LOGISTICS TUBE - innovative video-based training 15/07/2010 A new-concept training platform where European logistics professionals and businesses can find, upload and exchange updated information, news, and learning resources is available on the NET at http://www.logisticstube.eu/.

Logistics Tube, a web-based interactive training platform gives users direct access to a social networking module enabling them to connect with other professionals and companies across Europe. The platform, created within Project DELPHI co-funded by the European Union, provides users with new learning resources and training programmes tailored to their needs and analytical tools to help them develop their businesses. Logistics students, professionals and SME employees in charge of logistics may benefit not only from the resources available on the platform but also from directly creating their own training resources and sharing them with others who access the platform. By customising information and integrating various elements they are able to develop their own new learning content. Analytical tools include a simulation and optimisation routing tool, an auto-diagnostic tool for measuring logistics efficiency and a logistics broker. The innovative character of the DELPHI Project lies in the non-traditional technology chosen as the main tool to deliver such learning contents; audio-visual content (i.e. videos), which facilitates the immediate transfer of information. Users are able to freely browse the content on-line. In an era when sophisticated technologies are becoming more and more accessible to large segments of the population; when the Internet has introduced a new visual and wiki concept of learning, mainly composed of images, clips and movies; when mobile phones offer multiple functions including that of taking photos and recording video, the Logistics Tube platform offers a new-concept training methodology allowing quick access to any requested content. DELPHI (Devising E-learning Logistics Programmes to Heighten Innovation) was launched within the framework of the Development of Innovation strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme - Leonardo da Vinci European Programme. It was designed to improve the quality of distance learning in the field of logistics and is managed by: Centro Servizi PMI (Italy), ITL Foundation (Italy), AFT (France), WSL (Poland) and University of Salford (UK). The implementation stage of the project started in December 2008 and will end in December 2010.
