Dear Readers, If you’re a busy woman (and what woman isn’t?), staying organized and on top of every aspect of your busy life … family, home, work, community, can be overwhelming.

Woman Newspapers and Little Pink Pages have been on a mission to help women enrich their lives, starting with a directory based on the simple question, “How can we help women in Central PA find what they need, when they need it?” Little Pink Pages can simplify your life by providing you with women-centered businesses and professional services in your neighborhood. Along with the directories, our fun articles and simple how-tos are designed to make your life easier. With the age of technology, we found that we needed to move in this direction. We are happy to simplify your lives even more with our Little Pink Pages website: www.littlepinkpages.com. Little Pink Pages directory is designed to provide connections and resources that enhance not only your business success, but personal enrichment as well. As you browse the many categories available, I will continually seek businesses that fill the variety of needs you are looking for.

of being asked to t starts when you receive the invitation in the mail — either in a party. your mailbox or your computer’s Inbox. Do you bring wine or beer? Is wine too pretentious? There’s always craft beer, or is that elitist? And what to wear? Is it a casual gathering or a dinner party where at least a sport coat is needed? Is it acceptable to add a plus-one, since you just started dating? Here’s some help navigating the often frustratingly opaque rules of attending a party, be it cocktail, dinner or a child’s birthday: *Always RSVP The French may not have the corner on manners, but they do know that RSVP means respondez s’il vous plait, or please reply. This is essential for the host to get an accurate headcount and not responding is considered rude and inconsiderate. *Decode the dress code Is it a formal affair in which tuxes and dresses are appropriate, or a more casual, anything goes party? If you’re unsure, it’s never inappropriate to ask the hostess. *Go dateless Unless specifically stated, it is considered rude to bring an uninvited guest or to ask if you can bring a plusone. If you can bring a date, remember to RSVP for them, or conversely, if you accepted for your guest and plans change, let the host know that as well. *Hold your liquor While you may want to imbibe all the free-flowing alcohol, avoid drinking to excess. Nothing is more disrespectful and uncomfortable than a drunk party guest, particularly at more upscale affairs. Source: NewsUSA

ince climate and environment have a lot to do with causing winter doldrums, you might find engaging in some home improvement projects can make you feel happier and healthier this winter. Freshening your space can feel good any time of year, but these projects are perfectly aligned to give you a much-needed mood boost when it turns cold or wet weather sets in.

PROVIDING

HELP.

Skylights can help you maximize the amount of natural light that enters your home this winter. More natural light is good for you on many levels. Sunlight stimulates the body’s production of Vitamin D and increases the levels of serotonin in your brain; lower serotonin levels are thought to be associated with depression, lack of energy, elevated appetite and excessive sleepiness. If you’re already bummed by winter, having to live with old, beat-up, inefficient appliances will only add to your frustration. Plus, older appliances generally use more electricity and water than newer models. Replacing an old refrigerator, dishwasher, washer or dryer with Energy Star-qualified appliances can help reduce your energy and water consumption - and bills. It’s also an improvement that you can feel good about because it’s the perfect marriage of practicality and enjoyment. You may not think of cleanup as a legitimate home improvement, but decluttering and organizing your environment can definitely boost your mood. In American homes, the problem of clutter has reached staggering proportions. More than half of Americans (54 percent) say they feel overwhelmed by the amount of clutter in their homes, and 78 percent have no idea what to do with it, according to a recent survey by the National Association for Professional Organizers. We’re talking wedding bands, symbols of eternal love, and the most important pieces of jewelry a man and woman will ever own. So what’s your ring type? Read on:

• Down-to-Earth This no-nonsense bride has been planning her wedding for years -- with the stacks of bridal magazines to prove it -- and knows exactly what she wants. Ring type: Instead of anything too delicate or dainty, look for a heavier, more solid design. A simple band or one with a bezel set diamond ensures a timeless look. • Adventurous She’s a risk-taker who’s feeling so daring about her nuptials that she may even have considered eloping. (Well, at least a destination wedding.) Ring type: A dynamic personality requires a stand-out ring, so go for a band set with colored stones or intricate engraving. • Social butterfly This people-pleaser loves to entertain and wants to ensure that her wedding day is special for every single guest. Ring type: A small, discreet gemstone, like a single solitaire, displayed in a flush cut on a band will provide just the right adornment. • Quirky This bride is looking for ways to inject her and her partner’s personalities into every aspect of the wedding day, whether through DIY details or a choreographed first dance. Ring type: A tension setting with an unconventional gemstone creates a unique look. Lastly, wedding bands are important symbols of your lifelong commitment, so even if your band styles don’t match, at least look to share the same metal.
