10 qu esti ons to ask before hirin g on e
Your wedding will be one of the most memorable times of your life but because you won’t be able to see everything that happens during your wedding day, no one can capture it better than a professional photographer. So how do you find the right one? As you begin the interview process, here are 10 questions to help you determine if you’ve found the best photographer for your wedding. (Because some moments are too important to trust to a camera phone!) >> SPRING & SUMMER 2015 LittlePinkPages.com
5
10 qu esti ons Does the photographer have a gallery of wedding images you can review?
Reviewing sample work allows you to see the photographer’s strengths and weaknesses - don’t fool yourself, every photographer has them. You’ll also be able to get an idea of their style. Are they formal with an eye for the perfect picture or do they love to capture the hidden moments when no one is looking? Look for images that you can see yourself in. Think of three words that describe you and share those with your photographer. Every photographer has a style and reviewing their gallery can help you determine if theirs is right for you.
what is the photographer’s working style?
Some photographers are orderly and operate like wedding planners. Others prefer to sit back and let the events of the wedding unfold. It’s important that you find someone who can understand and meet your expectations. Discuss this ahead of time and ask away, so that you understand how well the photographer’s working style matches your own.
is the photographer available for an engagement session?
n engagement session does more than provide you with A priceless images together before you get married. It’s also your first opportunity to work with your photographer and develop a relationship that will allow you to be completely at ease on your big day. Use this session to confirm if the photographer is indeed the right person to capture your wedding.
will the photographer create a detailed shot list?
6
This list will ensure no important photo is missed during the commotion and excitement of the big day. You should be able to create that list together, add to the list leading up to the day and have a copy of that list the day of. Take an honest look at what images really matter and fill your photographer in on situations he or she might need to be aware of in order to prevent awkward moments, and to ensure that he or she can get the shots that matter most.

what kind of lighting will be used?
does the photographer have backup equipment?
does the photographer have liability insurance?
will there be one photographer or two?
what will happen to the images after your wedding?
when will you get your photos?
8
LittlePinkPages.com SPRING & SUMMER 2015
Whether you have an indoor or outdoor wedding, you’ll want to make sure your photographer has professional grade lighting equipment to deliver the images your wedding deserves. You’ve prepared contingency plans for every other aspect of your wedding; your photographer should as well. A true professional photographer won’t miss your perfect shot because of a technology issue. He or she will always bring one or two backup cameras, lenses, flashes, additional lighting equipment, extra memory cards, and batteries.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES DIOCESE OF HARRISBURG
PROVIDING
Accidents happen at weddings and if one of your guests trips over your photographer’s light stand, it’s good to know you both are protected. Your reception venue may even ask the photographer to submit a certificate of liability ahead of time.
HELP.
A second shooter increases the probability that no shot will be missed, especially if you are having a large wedding. If there will be two photographers, ask to meet them both to get a feel for their personalities and how well they might blend in on your big day. Will your images be backed up to a hard drive or the cloud once processed? How long will your photographer keep the images afterward? Will they be kept for a couple of years or dumped immediately? If you have any concerns about losing your photos, knowing what the photographer plans to do with your images after your wedding is important.
CREATING
HOPE. Behavioral Health Counseling Residential Programs Immigration & Refugee Services
No, you won’t get your pictures the day after; no photographer can deliver that quickly. It’s a good idea, though, to get a general idea of the timeline ahead of time. You might even be able to agree on getting a couple of images ready for social media use very quickly. But obtaining your photos will likely take several weeks. To help with the wait, some photographers will send you a sneak peek with a few images. Just ask ahead of time! Source: BPT

Dry skin occurs when there is not enough moisture or natural oils produced by the dermis. Dry skin is sensitive to cold weather, easily irritated, feels tight and has visible flaking. There is also superficial dry skin caused by exposure to the elements and improper skin care habits, like using soap or forgetting to moisturize. Symptoms like eczema, mild psoriasis and atopic dermatitis are often mistaken for dry skin. To take care of dry skin, wash your face twice a day with a creamy cleanser and warm water. Rinse it with cold water and pat dry. Use oil-based makeup and moisturizers. Do not use skin products that contain alcohol. Oily skin appears shiny and has larger pores. Enlarged pores, blackheads and blemishes are common. Around the nose there may be patches of flakes because of the drying of excess oil. Oily skin requires washing your face several times a day with a non-greasy liquid soap and warm water. Rinse it with cold water. Use toners that contain alcohol to dry the skin and water-based makeup and moisturizers to help decrease the shine. Normal skin is not too oily or too dry and is almost blemish free. The pores are small to medium and the tone is even. Normal skin has good elasticity and is soft and smooth. This is the goal that every other skin type shoots for. Combination skin has two or more different characteristics. Oily and dry or normal is the most common type of combination skin. There is a “T zone, with the forehead, nose and chin being oily and the cheeks and area around the eyes being dry. The majority of combination skin fits into this type, but another 5 percent has oily skin along the chin, jaw line and the temples and normal-to-dry skin everywhere else. With both types of skin, it is important to find products for combination skin. If you have normal to oily skin, use water-based moisturizers and apply them less to the oily parts of your skin. You may also use products that have alpha hydroxy acids and vitamin A retinols. For dry to oily skin, use toners that have been diluted with water and moisturize the dry parts of the skin more often. With both types of skin, use makeup that absorbs the oil to reduce the shine. Sensitive skin reacts to the sun, wind and cold weather. Beauty products can also cause reactions. Sensitive skin can be red and blotchy and may sunburn easily. To care for sensitive skin, look for products that are hypoallergenic and have no fragrances. Do not use any kind of exfoliants and wash your face at least once a day. 10

Watching a littler of puppies can be great fun. Taking one home, on the other hand, is another matter. A litter of puppies is like a nursery of newborns. No two are alike. Each has its own personality, which may or may not complement the personalities in your home. While you know what newborn you are bringing home, you may have no idea with the puppies. You want to look for one with the right temperament for your home.
Watch a litter of puppies for a while, and you will begin to see different temperaments emerge. Some puppies may be leaders. Some may be followers. Some may be adventurous and leave their mother’s side the first chance they get. Some may stick close to home. Some may run right up to you. Some may hold back. When you are contemplating adoption, it pays to study the litter and zero in on the puppies with the right temperament for you.
TIP #1
Before you start the search for the right pup personality, you need to consider the personalities in your home. Who else resides in the home? What are they like? While a loud, energetic pup might suit your kids, it might make your calm, reserved live-in father-in-law a nervous wreck. Look for a pup that will suit all of the people residing in your home.
TIP #2
Keep in mind that pup personalities may be both a product of nature and a product of nurture. Cocker spaniels, for example, are generally affectionate animals and highly tolerant of kids. A cocker spaniel that has not been raised with kids, however, may not be as fond of them. If you’re looking at a new litter of pups, you may not need to worry as much about nurture. If the pups are older, nature and nurture are both sure to be at work. You might be able to mold particular facets of a pup’s personality, but you won’t be able to completely change it.

• Approach. Does the puppy appear to like people? Does it come up to you? How does it interact with other puppies? Dominant dogs will take the lead in almost everything. Submissive dogs will stand back and try to blend in with the crowd. They are more watchers than doers and could be easier to train. • Feeding. How do the puppies interact at feeding time? Dominant, aggressive puppies will get to the food first. More submissive pups will hang back and wait for their turn. If you have more than one dog at home already, you may want a more dominant pup to ensure it gets fed. • Touch. Puppies react to touch differently. Friendly pups do not mind being held and stroked. Less friendly pups may prefer to be touched on their terms or not at all. Roll the pup of interest on its back and see if it will let you rub its tummy. Squeeze its paws and stroke its ears and tail. The more affectionate it appears, the easier time it may have around kids.

Men Reclaim the Bathroom
(717) 497-7834 MaryKay.com/MNaglieri MNaglieri@MaryKay.com
“
I can be as high maintenance
Most couples acknowledge that women get the majority of space in the bathroom. In fact, men claim that just one-third of the bathroom is set aside for their things and they often reach for items that belong to their partner, instead of products made for them. Here are some helpful tips for sharing a bathroom with your partner: • Even before you start organizing your space, talk about what you’re looking for! Do you like the top shelf-or do you prefer the bottom? Are you frustrated by open shampoo tops or soap left on the shower floor? Speak up! It can be helpful to organize your space together. • Try to keep in mind that sharing space is all about compromise. Some need more cabinet space while others need more space in the shower. Try to be flexible with your partner’s requests. You may love having your products easily accessible, but your partner may like it, too. Do your best to divide space according to your needs and always respect your partner’s space. • Play with boundaries. Creating structure will remind you which area is yours...and which belongs to your partner. Consider his-and-hers shelves or shower caddies and customized drawers or cabinet space if you’re looking to invest in your home. • Stock products for both of you. Most men have borrowed their partner’s products, but many women wish they didn’t. To stop the cycle, find a product he likes and keep using your favorites.

Thai Coconut Soup by kurtis patterson This recipe sounds and looks exotic and adventurous. It takes only about 30 minutes to prepare and my kids love it, so it is great for a busy night. It is also a great conversation starter at dinner parties. My version of this Thai tradition can be made with either fish or chicken. I use a Thai fish sauce, available at any supermarket. Ever since I read that parts of Italy use fermented fish sauce, I now use the sauce in Italian recipes, chili and other foods. Go easy on it as it has a strong flavor, but don’t be afraid to experiment with it! This will make enough to feed a family of 4 as a main course, and have leftovers! 1 qt. veggie broth 1 can coconut milk 2-3 fillets of tilapia OR 2 small (1 large) skinless, boneless chicken breast - sliced VERY thin 1 T. fresh finely chopped ginger (buy it by the “hand”; you can break off as much or as little as you want) 2-3 large cloves garlic, minced 1 medium carrot 1 onion 1 red bell pepper 2 jalapeño peppers (you can substitute other hotter peppers) 1 handful fresh bean sprouts (you can substitute about 1/2 of a can if you can’t find them fresh) 1 handful green beans (fresh or frozen) 3 cups chopped broccoli Juice of 1 lime 1 tsp. fish sauce Soy sauce & Sriracha sauce, to taste Using a large pot, use just enough veg oil to coat bottom and place the ginger, garlic and green beans (only if they are fresh, frozen will be added later) on medium low. You are gradually flavoring the oil here. If it starts to sizzle, reduce heat immediately. Simmer for at least 15 mins. Slice onions, carrots and bell pepper into thin strips end-to-end about 2” long. Add this mixture and green beans (if frozen) to the pot and increase the heat to medium high. Slice the jalapeño into rings and add to pot (saving about half of one for garnish).
When the veggies begin to sizzle, add the vegetable broth and coconut milk. If coconut milk has separated in the can, don’t panic - add solids and liquid. Add fish sauce and lime juice. When broth begins to simmer, add fish (or chicken), broccoli, green beans and bean sprouts (if using fresh sprouts, set a few aside for garnish). Gently cook until meat becomes opaque and white. Ladle over rice. Garnish with jalapeño, bean sprouts, and wedge of lime. Soy sauce and Sriracha to taste.
