SALEM SEEKERS
Treasure awaits some lucky scavenger hunters this summer as Salem Seekers returns for a second year.
Salem Seekers is a free scavenger hunt, started by Pamela Garland, that aims to encourage people to go outside and make memories together while celebrating Salem’s community spaces — our parks.
Beginning in June, 30 hand-blown glass birds created by Glass Art Oregon will be hidden — in plain sight — in a different park each month through September. They will be placed on or near pathways and other easily accessible areas, never tucked in trees or bushes. Still, be considerate of the neighbors when seeking.
Each month the hunt will take place at a different park and the birds will be placed throughout the month on random dates to mix up the opportunity to find a treasure.
Here’s when and where to watch for birds —
Jun 1-30: Hoodview Park, 4300 Kale St NE
Jul 1-31: Bryan Johnston Park, 400 Mildred Ln SE
Aug 1-31: River Road Park, 3045 River Rd N
Sep 1-30: Eola Ridge Park, 2546 Dan Ave NW
Those lucky enough to locate a bird are asked to share their find with Salem Seekers on social media. And if you find multiple, please only take one per household so the enjoyment can be shared.
