Have you ever sat and brainstormed about all the ways you could wear the same LBD (little black dress)? Well, I certainly have, and apparently Lauren Conrad has, too (which makes me feel a bit less odd). The reality television super star and (somewhat) self-made fashionista is now writing books featuring her unmistakable sense of style. Remember when your mother told you that horizontal stripes made you look wider? She lied. Not only can stripes actually be slimming, but there is something about a striped top that screams “Everything over here is wonderful! It’s all good!” Have you worn one lately? Because I swear, when you toss one on it instantly becomes a care-free summer day no matter what is going on around you (and by the way, today is the last day of Spring!). Give it a try, this season is giving us plenty of opportunities to try striped shirts in an array of candy-like hues. To either your dismay or your merriment, a long forgotten trend known as Color Blocking has found its way back into our closets. It is appearing in a few different ways. First, individual items or garments that are designed with Color Blocking in mind (like some of the items above). And second, as Color Blocked ensembles (think solid purple pants with a solid pink top). Like it, love it, or leave it? People always give me grief over my ability to facilitate their shopping addictions. But this morning those roles were reversed when a message from my friend L left me drooling over a nearly identical (and better priced) pair of shorts from H & M.
