Responding to the Numbers Parents in Monroe commonly ask how they can be effective in enforcing rules and expectations that the majority of the community doesn’t support. Our survey reveals: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Only 35% of survey respondents think adults in our community disapprove of serving alcohol to youth in their homes. In fact, 87% of adults reported they don’t serve alcohol to youth in their home under any circumstances. 89% of adults don’t think its okay for youth to drink at parties, even if they don’t get drunk. 96% of adults think there should be legal consequences for providing alcohol or marijuana to minors.

Challenge: How does the coalition communicate true adult norms and disapproval to support parents who want to establish clear rules and expectations around substance use?
