March Public Information Pack 2022 The Pride Glasgow March is fast-approaching, and after a 2 year gap due to the pandemic we are excited to get back together and celebrate with you! We want you and everyone watching the March to have a fabulous time. This booklet contains all of the information you will need for the day.

March Assembly Point & Position: All members of the public wishing to view the March are asked to line up along both pavement sides of the route and show your support to the March as it passes by. We recommend that you are at your decided viewing point from 11:30 AM. Organisations registered for the March are asked to arrive by 11:00 AM. If you have a float or vehicle in the March, please provide registration details to gary@pride.scot Any members of the public wishing to participate in the March must line-up in Greendykes Street, at the back of the Glasgow Sightseeing Open top Bus, where the speeches will be heard from. We recommend that you are there and in position for 11:30 AM.

Stewards: Pride Glasgow will provide stewards and there will be Police Officers for the public areas within the March, this is for your safety. You must obey the lawful direction of procession organisers, stewards and the Police at all times.

March Route: The route from Greendykes Street is as follows: Greendyke Street (Glasgow Green), Saltmarket, High Street, Ingram Street, Montrose Street, Cochrane Street (George Square), St Vincent Place, St Vincent Street, Renfield Street, Union Street, Jamaica Street and Broomielaw. A March route map is at the back of this guide.

Important: 1. All members of the public must follow the guidance and requests by Pride Glasgow volunteers and other event stewards or security who are trained to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the March for all. 2. Pride Glasgow is a celebration of diversity and equality, and all participants in the Pride Glasgow March are expected to embrace and respect this.


3. Pride Glasgow will not tolerate any threatening, violent or offensive behaviour against its volunteers, staff, other parties, participants, police, security personnel or members of the public. 4. Pride Glasgow celebrates diversity and will not tolerate any individual making derogatory remarks about a person’s sexuality, gender, gender identity, race, age, nationality, disability, appearance, religion or any other factor. 5. Any March participant that is deemed aggressive, incapacitated, threatening, a threat to their own health, or unable to fulfil the role they intended to do, due to intoxication, will not be permitted to take part in the event. 6. Pride Glasgow is a celebration of everybody and every body. As guidance, ‘swimsuit coverage’ is the minimum requirement. 7. There are clear legal guidelines around public nudity, taking part in sexual acts in public, and flashing, which all March participants are expected to abide by. 8. If you see or are notified of any incident that would break this code of conduct, please notify a volunteer steward, Pride management or a member of the Police immediately. 9. Participants are advised to only bring with them the essentials and minimise the size of any bags. 10. Refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs prior to or during the procession. 11. No glass bottles are permitted whilst on the March and we discourage plastic bottles for environmental reasons. 12. Make sure you and your family/friends do not march more than four-abreast, keeping to the near or left-hand side of the street except on one-way streets. 13. Make sure that you assist the Police in guaranteeing that passage is allowed for traffic and pedestrians. 14. Obey the lawful direction of procession organisers, stewards and the Police at all times. 15. Make sure you disperse as soon as the procession concludes to ensure the road can be opened again.

Failure to abide by these Terms and Conditions can result in the following: • • • •

Any person behaving in such a manner can be immediately removed from the March/Event. The rest of your family/friends may also be asked to leave at the sole discretion of the Pride Glasgow Management Team. Any person found to be taking part in illegal activity will be reported to the Police. In all matters relating to this code of conduct, the decision of Pride Glasgow Event Management and Event Directors will be final.

Medical Assistance/First Aid: Glasgow Street Aid will be providing first aid throughout the March and can be easily identified. There will be response unit as well as walking first aiders. However, if you or anyone within your group or other members of the public require first aid then please notify any of the Pride Glasgow Stewards wearing Pride Glasgow t-shirts and hi-visibility tops, or the Police and they will arrange assistance for you.

Clothing - It is Glasgow, so who knows what the weather will be like on the day? Please ask participants to prepare clothing for all types of weather. Footwear - Remember to wear appropriate footwear for the March as we are going to be walking some distance. Sunscreen - If it’s sunny (we remain optimistic), then please remember to put on sunscreen and don’t forget the sunglasses. Water - We recommend you bring water with you and drink water regularly. There will be water available via local retailers and free from the Scottish Water Top Up Taps at Buchanan Street, Clyde Street and Cathedral Square. Free water can also be requested at the Renfrew Ferry bar after the parade. Toilets – public toilets are available at the People Palace (Glasgow Green) St Vincent Street, Gallery of Modern Art, Royal Concert Hall and also in all commercial venues including The Renfrew Ferry. Exits - The route is not barriered, therefore marchers can safely exit the march at any point. Pride Glasgow After March Events: At the March dispersal area at The Broomielaw, there will be various stalls providing information, educational and interesting. They may also be giving away freebies so make sure you check them out. Cheri on the Ferry plus special guests @ The Ferry, Broomielaw (2 – 5pm) Bringing Pride onto the Clyde! A FREE Pride Day cabaret extravaganza with a terrific line up of performances headlined by Glasgow’s Queen of Drag Cheri Treifell and special guests including TikTok Drag Race Winner Garry King, the divatastic Jane Henderson, Reba Martel and many more! No ticket required - 18+ only.
