They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system. St John and St James, Holy Trinity and Springfield are designated teaching schools, working in collaboraBon with the other five schools in the federaBon; St MaZhias, Morningside, St John the BapBst., Gainsborough and De Beauvoir. The schools work in partnership with primary schools across the borough and beyond and play a key role within the Primary Advantage NaBonal Teaching Schools Alliance. Primary Advantage is a federaBon of schools working together because we believe our schools can gain many benefits from working collaboraBvely. We have made a commitment to a shared responsibility to the wider school community, the provision of good quality educaBon and the improvement of life chances for pupils in the community beyond that of our own schools. Our work on improving provision for children will conBnue to see us working in partnership with schools in Hackney, across London and into the County of Suffolk. We will be working closely with our strategic partners, The InsBtute of EducaBon and Hackney Learning Trust, to effecBvely deliver IniBal Teacher Training (School direct and PGCE), ConBnuous Professional Development, talent management, school to school support, the brokering of Specialist Leaders of EducaBon and research and development. Primary Advantage NaBonal Teaching School Alliance will see all schools within the alliance achieving more together.


Our Background Our journey started in 2001 when St John and St James opened as a Fresh Start School. Since then we have worked with many school and teachers in Hackney and beyond and have grown into a FederaBon of eight schools. Our schools gain signiďŹ cant beneďŹ ts from working collaboraBvely and can achieve more by working together. We have made a commitment to a shared responsibility to the wider educaBon community, the provision of a high quality educaBon and the improvement of life chances for pupils in the community beyond that of our own schools.

Job Descrip'on - Teaching Schools Manager Job Title: Teaching Schools Manager Key Contacts: Head of Teaching Schools, FederaBon Business Manager and the ExecuBve Principal Salary: P03 £38,007 - £39,855 pro rata The post holder is expected to work a 36 hour week. The core hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm. This post is term Bme only plus 10 days. The post holder will be expected to take their leave enBtlement during the school holidays. Based: Teaching School Training Room Liaises With: Head teachers, Teaching Staff, Teaching School Staff and Finance and AdministraBve staff. You will be responsible for managing the day to day operaBons of the Teaching School’s work comprising ITT and co-ordinaBng training/school improvement acBviBes for all other Teaching School’s partnership schools. You will advise and support the Head of Teaching School on a range of Teaching School maZers, including: Main Du'es • The provision of administraBve support to the Head of Teaching Schools. • Act as first point of contact for maZers concerning the Teaching Schools. • Manage the Teaching School diary. • Prepare papers and co-ordinate arrangements for Teaching School MeeBngs and provide administraBon and organisaBonal support. • Maintain administraBve oversight of all Teaching School acBviBes which is fully in support of its vision and aims. • Coordinate all the administraBve aspects of School Direct and other ITT. • Provide administraBve support & co-ordinaBon for the middle & senior leadership programmes including the markeBng of courses, registraBon, organisaBon of venues and invoicing and tracking of parBcipant progress. • Provide administraBve support & co-ordinaBon for exisBng outreach services both internal & external including CPD packages, ITT, NLE & SLE deployment. • To communicate a detailed calendar of CPD courses to all staff within the Teaching School.

Collect feedback and evaluaBon from all Teaching School events and provision Provide support, co-ordinaBon & administraBon for the recruitment, selecBon and deployment of Specialist Leaders of EducaBon. To idenBfy future sources of Teaching School Revenue Quality assurance of all aspects of the operaBon To ensure that the Teaching School promotes effecBve links with school community and conBnues the development of close liaison with other primary and secondary schools To contribute to the development with partners of plans, policies and operaBons. To ensure that all those involved in the Teaching School are commiZed to its aims, moBvated to achieve them and are involved in meeBng, long, medium and short term objecBves and targets which secure the success of the Teaching School. To manage complex projects involving a range of stakeholders To manage, monitor and review the range, quality and use of available resources in order to improve the quality of delivery, ensure efficiency and secure value for money. Co-ordinaBon of the distribuBon of paperwork with other members of Teaching School partnerships, collaBng reports from other member establishments for circulaBon within the Primary Advantage FederaBon and beyond. Co-ordinaBon of all required Teaching School and meeBngs, including strategic meeBngs, organising venues, arranging and distribuBng paperwork and providing the necessary administraBve support e.g. agenda, minutes & producing reports to set criteria. Ensuring that correspondence is circulated within the federaBon, partnerships, ITT and further afield Be responsible for overseeing the Teaching School budget in conjuncBon with the Head of Teaching Schools and FederaBon Business Manager Carrying out personnel administraBon related to the Teaching School and its alliance including liaising with HR for enhanced DBS applicaBons and Single Central Register updates. Managing health, safety and security for trainees and visitors.


ITT • Support the head of School in managing the UCAS Teacher Training applicaBon process. • Support the Head of School in managing trainee Interviews • Support the Head of School in managing and interrogaBng NCTL and Skills Tests databases • Liaising with parBcipant schools, contacts and outside agencies • CreaBon and producBon of key documentaBon • OrganisaBon and arrangement of training materials • Management of the final verificaBon process • OrganisaBon & aZendance at promoBonal events, graduaBons • Management of the equipment and the infrastructure that supports Programme administraBon Finance • To manage the financial and administraBve funcBon for the teaching school in order to support conBnuous improvement and to maximise the delivery of high quality support. • To ensure the efficient and effecBve use of all resources by means of regular monitoring of the teaching school’s expenditure and to review these to ensure best value pracBces. • To support the Head of Teaching School, ExecuBve Principal and FederaBon Business Manager in the preparaBon of budgets, allocaBon of budgets and accounts. • To work with the FederaBon Business Manager and other federaBon staff to implement agreed processes, develop and share best pracBce. • To produce regular financial management data each month, or when requested, for monitoring purposes and ensure Bmely producBon of financial reports and returns. • To manage the income generaBon acBvity for the school. • To co-ordinate the purchase of goods, services and supplies and ensuring that the teaching school obtains the best possible value for money from suppliers and contractors. • To deal with any financial irregulariBes that may need further invesBgaBon in accordance with recognised financial regulaBons, school policy and best pracBce. Marke'ng • Plan and deliver the full range of markeBng acBviBes over the course of the academic year under the direcBon of the head of School. • Produce and maintain markeBng materials for Teaching Schools and market courses with other schools. • Produce staBonery, booklets and other materials for promoBonal purposes

Be responsible for maintaining & updaBng the Teaching Schools website with both informaBon and relevant promoBonal acBvity/news. Be responsible for promoBng a posiBve brand idenBty for the Teaching School.
