Swap the unhealthy carbohydrates with healthy alternatives. For example, brown rice, brown bread instead of white, boiled sweet potato instead of fried potato.
A GREAT time to eat carbs is in the morning (remember breakfast like a King).Each morning, your metabolic rate is higher and insulin sensitivity is peaking naturally. Plus you’ve fasted all night so there’s room in the tank to store more carbs for your muscles all day.

The BEST time is post workout. Your muscle are like a sponge that’s been wrung dry and they want to ‘soak up’ extra nutrients- especially carbs, your post workout meal should contain your largest carbohydrates portion of the day, just make sure you have at least 20g protein with it.

Drink water when you exercise. Drink before, during, and after you walk (1-1.5 cups of water for a 20minute walk). E very system in your body depends on water. Lack of water can lead to dehydration, which can drain your energy and make you feel tired. If you exercise or engage in any activity that makes you sweat, you need to drink extra water to compensate for fluid loss.

Exercising with a friend – Exercising with others helps you stay motivated and consistent. Join an activity like a walking group where you can participate at your own fitness level and pace. Having a regularly scheduled exercise time is an excellent way of making sure you exercise on a consistent basis.

n this week issue, we feature what we call Coffee Time Challenges. They are designed as small, bite-sized, problems to be mulled over whilst taking a short coffee break. These are, typically, not hard puzzles, and usually there are multiple ways of solving. A good coffee time challenge is one where what you need to find is instantly understandable, and the challenge is how to find that answer
Challenge: You’re taking care of a friend’s house whilst he’s on vacation. In one room you pull the chain on a ceiling fan, and when it doesn’t respond you realize the house has temporarily lost power. Duh! Unfortunately, you have to leave now, and you’ll be away for several days. You know that the fan was in the “off” position before you pulled the chain, and that pulling the chain successively will cycle it through its remaining settings (“off,” “high”, “medium”. etc.). You don’t know how many settings there are, but you are sure there aren’t more than four. How can you ensure the fan will be in the “off” positions when power is restored? Hint: Do the words Lowest Common Multiple mean anything to you?
