Weekend Experience & Events

Happy Yourself "Happiness depends upon ourselves." –Aristotle. Even when you accomplish something great, that high won’t last. It won’t make you happy on its own; you have to work to make and keep yourself happy. There are numerous bad habits that tend to make us unhappy. Eradicating these bad habits can move your happiness set point in short order.

● Immunity to awe. Amazing things happen around you every day if you only know where to look. ● Isolating yourself. Isolating yourself from social contact is a pretty common response to feeling unhappy, but there’s a large body of research that says it’s the worst thing you can do. ● Blaming. ●Controlling. It’s hard to be happy without feeling in control of your life, but you can take this too far in the other direction by making yourself unhappy through trying to control too much.

● Criticizing. ● Complaining. ● Impressing. People will like your clothes, your car, and your fancy job, but that doesn’t mean they like you. ● Negativity. ● Hanging around negative people. ● Comparing your own life to the lives people portray on social media. ● Neglecting to set goals. ● Giving in to fear ● Leaving the present. Happy people focus on living in the present moment.

The Seven Drinks W

eekend Experiences are a perfect opportunity to show off that hardwon knowledge on what to drink. There are seven drinks we think are solidly reliable to order on a night out. 1.THE MANHATTAN A masterpiece of the pre-Prohibition era, this drink is a perfect order. It’s easy to make and relatively quick. 2.THE BEER & A SHOT This isn’t a “cocktail.” That’s the point. It’s a fun, unserious drink and that’s exactly what you want. 3.OLD FASHIONED A proper Old Fashioned is a thing of beauty, so order it somewhere you know makes it right: big ice cubes, no soda water, not too sweet, and definitely no copious amounts of muddled fruit. 4.NEGRONI It is an elegant, beautiful drink that’s easy to make and the perfect start to a long night. Gary Regan already said it best: "Want to impress your date? Order

Page

4

a Negroni. Want to impress your boss? Order a Negroni. Want to impress the bartender? Order a Negroni." 5.Vieux Carré Order this complex classic only in a “cocktail bar” and only if you have time on your hands. You have to know how pronounce it (“voe-car-ehhh”). 6.GIN & TONIC It’s a classic for a reason. It’s light, refreshing and (nearly) impossible to mess up. The secret reason, though, is that the G&T will always be the perfect order when the bar is packed . 7.SIDECAR Ordering this tells that you have a good record collection and are confident enough to stray beyond the obvious classics. It’s got a sugar rim and Cointreau for your sweet tooth, and a cognac backbone that keeps the whole drink walking tall. Join us next week for the recipes.

Nyama Choma is roasted meat. This is an all-time favorite for many people. The taste of char grilled meat is mouthwatering and at times the craving strikes without warning. To prepare Nyama Choma at home, simply grab half a kilo or 1 kilo of meat and roast it yourself. Use a jiko or a charcoal grill for this dish. ISSUE no 174 Conversation begins here

I am a food writer who regularly eats out in the hottest new restaurants. I always order what I want, but I never gain weight. And here's the best part: You can do the same. Here are the basics that work: Firstly, you can order a fattening item, like cheese spaghetti, but plan ahead by eating lightly throughout the day to ensure you have "budgeted" enough calories and grams of fat. Or, if you forget to

pre-plan, you can order the pasta and take half of it home in a doggie bag. To avoid feeling deprived, sip a frothy skim-milk cappuccino for dessert. Secondly, I select a naturally healthy menu item, such as salmon over a bed of spinach. If you can't spot a similar offering on the menu, sweet-talk the staff into making substitutions or tiny changes to a dish, such as requesting a dish skinless chicken

rather than higher-fat lamb. Remember, most chefs will be happy to accommodate special dietary needs. And don't forget, Size does matter. Also, ask yourself if you really crave dessert. If so, order a low-fat option or high-fat but share it. Finally, exercise regularly, particularly on the day you plan to eat out, as exercise not only burns calories but curbs your appetite.

The Dated Myths That Keep Women from Investing

Solution for Clearing and Forwading Service 0658/0754 534755 info@mcjuro.co.tz

Tips on how to organize the kitchen

We hear a lot about the gender pay gap. That certainly costs us women. But we don't talk nearly as much about the gender investing gap, which can impact us as much -- or more -- over the course of our lives. Here are some of the messages we women receive that can keep us from investing: Myth 1: Women are not “as good at math” – and math-like things – as men. Myth 2: Women need more financial education before they can invest. Myth 3: Men are better investors than women. Myth 4: Women are too risk-averse to invest. Myth 5: Women need an in-person relationship to invest. Myth 6: Women aren’t that interested in investing. Myth 7: Women need more hand-holding to invest. Myth 8: The real issue is the gender pay gap. As a full career woman, I think most of these myths are debatable. Yet still, this is an element of truth which needs to be worked upon.

W

e will all agree that the kitchen in the heart of the house, it is an area of any home that gets used more often than most other areas. It’s important to keep it simple and practical for every family member. Below are few tips to keep the kitchen organized; 1.Empty all the cabinets and go through everything, have bins/ boxes for Keep, Donate, Recycle and trash. Discard everything which is broken. If you have duplicate items donate one. 2.Group alike items, keep all the spices, baking things and dishes you regular use together. Keep the seasonal items separate.

What to put on your CV when looking for a job in the Tanzania 1.At the top of your CV: • Full name – the name your parents gave you, not the one your friends call you; • Date of Birth; • Nationality (this is important because of visa implications); • Visa Status; • Current Location; • Email address & phone number; add your Skype address too if you’re abroad; • If you’re going to put a photo, make sure you’re not in a bikini or taking a selfie; 2.Work experience: • Start with your most recent experience: name of company, location, month and year; • Job title and main responsibilities. Keep it tight, keep it right; Page

• Then continue listing your work experience from newest to oldest. If there are any gaps in time, make sure you list the reason why (traveling, maternity, redundancy etc.); 3. Education: • Highest level of education (years, what major) and any other certifications. 4. Additional Skills: • Languages that you’re fluent in.• Computer skills (Microsoft office etc.): the programs you worked with in your recent company 5. Additional Information: • Awards you’ve received or trainings 6. Interests and Volunteer: • Something that you really enjoy.

3.Organize the cabinets. Now that everything is grouped decide where you want to keep each group. Creating zones is the best way to keep the kitchen organized. Keep all the spices and thing you use to cook with close to food preparation area, Create a tea/ coffee zone where all teas, coffees, mugs a sugar are kept for easy access. 4.Use clear container to store small packets of soups, spices, pudding and gravies to avoid them to be all over the cabinet. 5.Store containers with their lids on or keep the lids on a separate larger container so that they are all in the same place. This can also be done to pots and pans. 6.Use lazy Susan, rotating trays keeps oils, vinegar and medicines very handy and all together, with just a spin everything is inform of your eyes. 7.Use drawer dividers, to keep those utensils neat and easily accessible. Keeps alike items together. Suggesting a good well organized Kitchen image

Ways to Remove the Most Perplexing Stains

Get BettÅer Skin Overnight Who knew sleeping your way to better skin could be so easy? There are plenty of tips for bettering your skin overnight. Read on for a few more of my favorites. √ Wash Your Hands Before Bed You can't always control touching your face in your sleep, so you should keep them clean just in case.

There are some obscure stains you just can’t figure out how to take them out. These are some tips to defeat just about any trouble spot.

√ Wash Your Pillowcase Once A Week To avoid breakouts, you should wash your pillowcase once a week. √ Remove All Of Your Makeup

Make sure you're washing your face with a gentle yet powerful cleanser as well to remove makeup and residue completely. √ Listen To Your Face Instead of just following the same face routine every night, make sure you're looking at your skin to see what types of products it needs and tailor your regimen accordingly. √ Drink Water Before Bed Drinking water before bed is important for replenishing the body and the skin.

√ Check Your Sleeping Position The best sleeping position for your skin is on your back. That way your face isn't being smashed into the pillow or pulled by your hands. √ Get a Full Eight Hours Sleep It turns out getting enough sleep isn't just good for your body but your skin as well. √ Pick The Right Pillowcase Finding the right pillowcase is more important than you'd think.

1."A pen leaked inside my purse!" For any type of lining, apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to the stain with cheesecloth. Rub the stain until you no longer see progress. 2."Spilt wine on cherished photos!" Don't touch the surface; just shake the liquid off. Take it to an expert. Simple jobs can take one hour, while complex ones (like old, large stains) may call for a few hours of washing. As a cheaper alternative, a digital restoration service can make a computer-generated version.

3."Color rubs on patent-leather purse in a yellow plastic bag." For any stains on patent leather, whether you're dealing with a bag or a shoe, dab white vinegar onto cheesecloth and gently rub the stain. The blemish should vanish instantly. If it doesn't, dip cotton swab in acetone-based nail-polish remover and lightly run it over the mark.

Health & Fitness Living

Benefits of Eating With the Hands Most Tanzanians eat with their hands. But today as we adopt more traditions of the western world, it is common to see people using spoons and forks to eat. Here are the top 4 reasons you should start eating with your hands.

Nutritious Eating

A

s people with busy schedules, it becomes challenging to eat healthy. It becomes time consuming. You would rather pass through a fast food joint or a drive through to get food for lunch in order to get back to the office to meet your targets. This challenge makes individuals feel unhealthy and especially not stay in shape. Nutri- Delight has thought of this and has developed costeffective and customizable support services to help solve this challenge.

1.Improves digestion: When we touch our food with our hands, the brain signals our stomach that we are about to eat. This in turn, readies the stomach to digest the food it will receive, aiding in better digestion.

2.Promotes mindful eating: Eating with your hands requires you to pay attention to what you are eating. This improves the assimilation of nutrients from the food you eat, enhances digestion and makes you healthier. 3.Protects your mouth from getting burnt: Your hands also act as a very effective temperature sensor. When you touch food it is easy for you to gauge how hot it actually is, and you are less likely to put food that is too hot into your

mouth – effectively preventing you from scalding your tongue. 4.Keeps all your vital life energies in balance: According to Ayurvedic texts, we are all made up of five main life energies and these five elements correspond to each finger. When we eat with our hands we usually join our fingers and thumb to eat, we are putting together all the five elements and energizing the food we eat so it helps us become healthy and keep all our life energies in balance.

What to do when you overeat

"Nutri-delight's menu provides nourishing meals that is a reliable option for individuals who are weight conscious and worried on eating out and yet have no time to prepare takeaway packs. We focus more on time, attention and support your schedule. Our menus are planned by a professional nutritionist, with consideration of calorie requirements for specific group. We also do exclusively in providing and delivering affordable, highly nutritious meals designed and tailored exactly to the unique requirements of our customers of specific groups like vegetarian. Again, our menu range is suitable for diabetic patients, hypertension or those who are on weight loss regimes". We provide services to educational institutions, business and industry, correctional facilities and healthcare centers throughout Dar

Maybe you looked up last night and realized you ate all of the wings instead of saving half like you meant to. Don't panic. Overeating days happen to the best of us. These tips should help you resume your healthy habits 1.Have Breakfast Even if you wake up feeling full and sluggish from all that fill-in-theblank you ate the night before; force yourself to start the day with breakfast. 2.Hydrate Water is so clutch on the day after you overeat. Why? It helps you feel full, so you won't be as tempted to carry your overeating day into the next day, too. 3.Have a Filling Salad for Lunch

Page

16

ISSUE no 174 Conversation begins here

The water in the veggies will help hydrate you and take away that groggy food-hangover feeling. 4.Eat an Afternoon Snack Don't skip out on this! It's important to keep your metabolism going so you don't suddenly crash and begin another overeating session. 5.Cook Dinner at Home Go for clean foods, like a piece of broiled fish with roasted veggies and a whole grain. They'll give you the nutrients you need without the entire processed gunk, which would only perpetuate your bloat. 6.Try to Squeeze in a Workout When you feel like you're carrying a small child, building up the mental energy to hit the gym can seem majorly daunting.

The Importance of a Safari Guide

Emotions You Will Experience On a Tanzanian Safari ● When you first book your trip to Tanzania, you begin to celebrate. You get really excited. ●When you get on the bus for your first game drive you become jumpy in your seat.

W

hen you adventure into amazing, wild and exhilarating Tanzania, there is one thing you must have – an experienced friend, to safely guide you on the best ways to enjoy the adventure of your lifetime. Unlike other holidays that can be enjoyed independently or with an escort from your home country, a safari holiday requires an expert guide who has inherent knowledge of Tanzanian flora and fauna learned through a lifetime of experience. They have intimate knowledge of the terrain and wildlife behavior in their local park(s), and will know exactly what signs to look for while on game viewing activities. These guides spot such concealed animals that even the most observant foreigners are left stunned! More than leaders, spotters, and wildlife experts, safari guides are diplomats – true ambassadors who can't wait to share their country's treasures with you. They offer guests an insight into their way of life and their culture which makes for a much more rewarding safari experience

Facts about Tanzania Tanzania doesn’t do anything half-way. It goes BIG. Here are some things you didn’t know about one of the most adventure-filled countries in Africa. 1.BIG GAME - Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve is the largest game reserve in Africa. 2.BLOODY LAKE - Located on Tanzania’s border, the water in Lake Natron is red because of the cyanobacteria that live within the inhospitable waters. 3.COLLOSAL CRATER - Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater is the largest complete crater in the world. 4.HALF GIRAFFE - Tanzania is home to the gerenuk, a strange species of gazelle that has an extraordinarily long neck and legs, perfect for

accessing trees. 5.MONSTER CRAB - Zanzibar’s Coconut Crab is the largest crab in the world. 6.MAMMAL MOB - More than three million large mammals roam the plains of the Serengeti. 7.ADDER DISCOVERY - Tanzania is home to one of the world’s most recently-discovered snake species, the forest-dwelling Matilda’s Horned Viper. 8.BIG BEAN BUSINESS - Coffee is one of Tanzania’s main exports. 9.TV TRAILBLAZERS - In 1974, Zanzibar was the first area in Africa to introduce color television 10. LOCAL HERO - Queen’s front man Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar.

●When you first spot a zebra, you take a lot of pictures ● After seeing your hundredth zebra, you become tired and bored of seeing them. ● When someone thinks they have spotted something in the distance, you begin to look with keen attention to see what he or she has seen. ●When you see a water hog, you look like a baby that is looking at an awkward dance done by his father. ●When you see your first elephant, you say “wow”. ●. When you see any baby animal, you begin to scream “That’s so adorable”. ●When an animal gets a little too close, you observe it get closer, then get scared and react by screaming. ● When that one person in your group thinks they know everything about Tanzania/wildlife/nature/ life, they talk too much, you begin to dose off. ● When you run out of memory on your camera, you feel like crying ● When all you want to see is a kill, you look attentively. ● When you finally see one a kill, you look shocked and disgusted ● When you see lions, you exclaim “Holy …” and sometimes you cuss ● When you get home and your friends are super jealous of your awesome trip, you brag and start dancing the haters going to hate.
