he Old Fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters, then adding alcohol, such as whiskey or brandy, and a twist of citrus rind.
Ingredients: One and a half oz Bourbon or Rye whiskey, two dashes Angostura bitters, one Sugar cube, few dashes plain water Preparation: Place sugar cube in old fashioned glass and saturate with bitters, add a dash of plain water. Muddle until dissolved. Fill the glass with ice cubes and add whiskey. Garnish with orange slice, and a cocktail cherry. Serve On the rocks; poured over ice

Local Recipe of the Week – Ndizi na Nyama
P
lantains with meat. Ndizi is the Swahili word for plantains. Nyama is the Swahili word for meat. This recipe can be either Ndizi na Nyama (plantains with meat) or Nyama na Ndizi (meat with plantains) depending on what's in the pantry. Make the dish without any meat and you will have a Mchuzi wa Ndizi (plantain curry). Ingredients: Green Plantains, Stewed beef, cut into cubes, 2 fresh tomatoes sliced or 1 small can of tomatoes or tomatoes paste, 2 onions, sliced, Vegetable oil, Curry or 2 bouillon cubes, Garlic, Red Chilli pepper (option), Black pepper, to taste, Salt to taste

Feel comfortable - Look for places with a children's menu, where a bit of noise and mess is the norm and impeccable behavior isn’t expected.
Bring supplies - The best way to avoid mealtime meltdowns is to alleviate boredom, so bring carry-along coloring packs, books, toys and snacks to keep them going. If you have an older child, let them choose a few items that aren’t too loud, big, or anti-social.
Get them involved - If they’re old enough, let them order their own meal, or even choose the restaurant. Look beyond the food - The fun doesn’t

Fashion & Beauty EASTER FASHION FOR MEN What to wear for Easter depends on what you have planned for the day. Generally, dressing appropriate for Easter, means wearing your Sunday best. Now what does that mean, you ask. Apply the following guidelines and you will be ready to go find your Easter basket. Wear lightweight slacks. Choose from khakis or wide wale corduroys in a light color. Jeans are acceptable if you are going on a picnic or going to watch an egg hunt, but for a church service, go with the casual dress pants. EASTER FASHION FOR LADIES Aside from gathering with family and friends and binging on bunny shaped chocolate, we love this holiday for all the fabulous fashions moments. Pretty pastels, spring dresses, white patent shoes for the kids and of course, bold and beautiful hats. When it comes to Easter toppers, church ladies don’t mess around. Mimic the colors of plastic Easter eggs and pick a shirt in a pastels like tangerine, yellow, baby blue or mint. Stripes feel fresh and spring-like in these colors. Have some fun with your socks. Easter is a good time to wear fun socks. Wearing a suit and tie is the best choice for some men, especially if you are expected to be more dressed up. Match what your son is wearing if you can, if you are a father of course. Spring is a rainy season in many parts of the country. Having an extra umbrella is not really part of what to wear for Easter, but it is a good practice.
SKIN TREATMENT – Week 2
FOR OILY SKIN
In last week’s issue, we had the skin treatment for dry skin. This week, we have skin treatment for oily skin. If your skin tends to be oily or greasy, it can be hard to find a product that takes care of the issue all day long. What you need is Grapefruit (or Orange or Lemon) and Dry Oatmeal Make a paste with the juice from the grapefruit and the dry oatmeal. Apply to any areas that are especially oily and allow the paste to dry before removing. If you notice that you’re still becoming a bit greasy throughout the day, make a 50/50 mixture of lemon juice (helps break down the oils) and water, pour it into a tiny spray bottle ($1.00 at Wal-Mart) and carry it with you in your purse for a quick skin refresher!

ealthy advice on how to enjoy yourself over Easter without sacrificing your waistline. So you can eat the odd chocolate egg and enjoy it too. Don't bulk buy. Only buy a small amount of good quality chocolate, rather than lots of poor quality chocolate. Keep chocolate for dessert. Eating Easter eggs on an empty stomach will spike blood sugar levels and put you on a hunger and energy level roller coaster. Choose wholegrain hot cross buns. Wholegrain hot cross buns have more fiber and contain far more vitamins and minerals than normal ones. Share your sweets. If you have an abundance of chocolate, don’t Page

leave it lying around the house to tempt you. Small is smart. Eat but the key is having small amounts. Stock your fridge. Have plenty of delicious healthy foods on hand so you don’t automatically reach for the Easter eggs. Try raw chocolate. Have you tried cacao? It’s chocolate in its raw form and is packed with antioxidants, calcium and potassium. Give in to your cravings. Easter is a special occasion and it is okay to eat some chocolate. Monitor your food. Stop mindless snacking over Easter by keeping a food diary. Build a calorie bank. Try to exercise every day over Easter to balance out the consumption of extra kilojoules.
