Weekend Experience & Events

W HOME MOVIE NIGHT

e all know how expensive it can be to take a group or large family out for one movie night. The tickets, food and other assorted add-on goodies end up costing a whole day's pay! Your couch or bed at home can be effectively utilized and you can easily create your own movie night at home, minus the bill! Here are ways to create a cinematic adventure at your own house! First of all, if you are having a movie night for a big group of friends, make sure you have a nice set-up. This means seats for all, enough snacks for the number of people invited and a good view of the television. These are all the necessary components for having a wonderful night in! Secondly, consider the ambiance. Lower the lights and make sure you have comfy seats. Let the food be popping. Have some soda or pop available. Popcorn highly is essential as well as basic snacks. Again, have a themed dish or snack and ice cream.

pleeeaaaase!

Finally be quiet, LOL. Movie nights at home with friends often result in chatter. Remind your friends that you all want to enjoy the movie. I tried these tips and I saved a lot of cash over the holidays. Try it!

TABLE ETIQUETTE

I

really admire methodical eaters. And when it comes to using forks and spoons, the grace with which some people wipe the plate clean, has been a subject of much envy across the globe. Well, it’s really a simple deal if you follow certain basic rules which are easier to master than you thought. When it comes to table etiquettes, we have the cutlery etiquettes; which is in two styles. Namely, the Continental and the American styles. Both Continental and American style are accepted in cutlery etiquette. The difference is that the American style of using utensils has a zigzag sort of manner, leaving one utensil on the plate and switching hands to pick up the fork when putting the food in the mouth. The Continental style eats with both utensils in hand until the meal is finished. For Page

countries that has western dining, Continental style is usually followed. Both methods are acceptable in these countries.

We supply fresh vegetables, fruits & more food items to home / Office's door steps.

LOCAL RECIPE OF THE WEEK WALI NA MAHARAGE

Cutlery will differ according to what is served. For instance, if there is pudding, a set of pudding utensils, a pudding spoon and fork will be set on the table. Some fine dining restaurants seem to have a specific cutlery for everything. If in doubt, do not be shy to ask the waiter. The general cutlery etiquette would be to use the cutlery from outside in. Therefore, the table will be set the utensils to be used from 'outside in' so from the utensils you can tell what would be served. If the general cutlery etiquette is observed, your table etiquette setting is correct.

UBER Technologies plans to start operating in three new African countries; Ghana, Uganda and Tanzania by the end of June, extending its reach two-and-a-half years after introducing its ride-hailing service in the continent. Uber is gaining users in Africa as travelers and commuters seek alternatives to often unreliable or non-existent public transport. Uber is also benefiting from customers embracing pooled rides, which allows them to reduce the bill per person. This is a smartphone-friendly continent and the lack of publictransport infrastructure means Uber is filling a gap in the market. SPEAK UP!

A

re you one to sit back quietly? You may be hurting yourself and others. Here are some good reasons to speak your mind loudly and often because despite the risk, standing up and saying your peace is best. 1. Silence is deemed approval. You may think that staying silent keeps you from being involved in any conflict, but quite the opposite. 2. The greater good should be the priority. I like to believe most people are good hearted by nature. And many stay silent because they don't want to do any harm by offending or criticizing someone. But when a person or the team is headed down a dangerous path it's selfish to put your own need to be comfortable above the needs of the others. 3. Demonstrate you are invested. Speaking up is an important form of honesty. Honesty actually builds trust, especially when combined with tact and empathy. Demonstrate that you will be truthful with people, that you care about them, and that you give good advice, and you will never lack for trusting friends and followers. 4. No one else may know. You can't assume the obvious is obvious. Your experience and knowledge has value in a given situation. Gather up your confidence and share.

tify a valuation that topped $60bn in a recent funding round. The San Francisco-based company is accelerating its race to expand globally, and it’s also branching beyond picking up and dropping off riders, testing services such as food and package delivery in some cities.

5. You may not be alone in your thinking. It's entirely possible that your insightful observations and conclusions have surfaced in the minds of others. Others may share your thoughts and opinions, but may be also unwilling to speak up.

Fashion & Beauty THE PERFECT SHOES FOR YOUR LEG SHAPE

W

hen you buy a dress or a skirt, you spend dozens of minutes considering how and if it will flatter your silhouette, but did you know that shoes can also alter your figure, highlighting your best assets and hiding what you don’t want the world to see? Find out how, right here:

1.If you have thick legs

Avoid boxy shoes, shoes that have extra room at the ankles such as wide booties, and shoes that have straps around the ankles. Elongate your leg with the help of pointy toes, peep toes and V-styles at the vamp of the shoes. Avoid bold colors and patterns that will draw attention down to your feet. Instead, go for nudes and brown-based colors that will elongate your legs. Go for matte leathers and suede, instead of shiny fabrics.

2.If you have thick ankles

Stay away from ankle straps that optically cut your legs in half. Sleek styles like a pointytoed shoe create the illusion of leaner legs and skinnier ankles.

3.If you have thick calves

Pumps and sling backs optically elongate legs. Avoid wedges, which will add volume to your foot, as well as chunky heels, and go instead for a platform style.

4.If you have long legs

Dare to wear ankle straps, chunky heels, embellishments and lace-up styles.

5.If you have skinny legs

Go for wedges or platforms, which are going to add volume. For skinny calves, choose skinny straps, instead of wide ones. Patent leather, metallic and satin, anything shiny will make your legs stand out and reflect light.

6.If you have short legs

Go for sling back styles and mules, which will optically slim your legs, as well as elongating them.

Travel & Holiday

CHEAPEST TRIPS BASED ON TIMES

February in Honolulu. Hawaii is at its most expensive over New Years, but come Valentine’s Day, this ultra-romantic spot offers surprisingly good prices of a 40% dip in hotel rates. Flagstaff, Arizona for March. Think of it as the gateway to the Grand Canyon and an affordable one, at that. If you travel in the first week of March, you can pay well under $100 for a comfortable hotel. For April, we have Chicago. The Second City should be first on your list come spring, when hotel rates dip to 54 percent cheaper than peak season prices. London is for May. Sure, it’s a global capital and never a cheap ticket but London offers surprising value if you go after May Day where the bank holiday falls on May 2 this year.

Melbourne

I

once heard of a myth that Tuesday is the best day to book airfare. Wednesday is the best day to fly. January is the cheapest month to travel. To me all of them are up for debate, to a certain extent. Upon research, there are a couple of cheap places that one can travel for each month of the year.

January is a good time to visit Melbourne. Visiting Melbourne in January means you can take advantage of low rates between the Christmas rush and the Australian Open, both of which draw tons of travelers.

THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU RETURN FROM A TRIP

I

usually do nothing but slump exhaustedly on the couch for a day or two after a trip, while others leap immediately back into their daily life as though their trip never even happened. The following list of what to do after traveling will help you save money, stay healthy and savor the afterglow of your trip for just a little bit longer. •Check your bank and credit card statements. •Turn off the international package on your cell phone. •Deal with your email. •Take care of your body. •Filter your photos. •Check your loyalty programs to make sure you've received the miles or points you're entitled to. •Make insurance claims. •Share your experiences with other travelers. •Start planning your next trip.

June is best spent in San Antonio. San Antonio is now home to a buzzy restaurant scene and beautiful hotels. It’s also 49 percent cheaper to stay there. To be continued…

THE DONT 's AFTER RETURNING FROM ABROAD YOU’VE BEEN ABROAD AND now you’re home. You’re more worldly, more cultured, and excited to share your experiences with your friends and family. You feel like a changed person, but the problem is, everyone else is exactly the same. And not only that, they expect you to be the same, too. Don’t go on and on and on and on. Your friends and family are interested in your abroad experience, but that doesn’t mean you have to start every sentence with, “When I was abroad… ” followed by an hour-long narrative. People only want to spend so much time hearing stories and looking at pictures. Don’t pretend to be from your host country. Yes, spending a semester in another country does help you get to know that country. So while we encourage you to find ways to integrate your new knowledge into your life at home, remember that you can’t bring it all back with you. Don’t act “holier-than-thou.” One of the most exciting things about living abroad is being exposed to different tastes, perspectives, and practices. Still, nobody wants to be lectured to, or hear you bash their tastes. Don’t flaunt it. It’s important to remember that it’s not possible for everyone to go abroad so be sensitive when sharing stories with someone who hasn’t been abroad yet. Don’t hate on your home country. Yes, it can be hard to settle back into your old country life. Walk through a new neighborhood, find a new restaurant, and meet a new person. Take time to explore.

Everyone wants to have a great smile which is why good oral hygiene is important! Having poor oral hygiene can lead to a variety of dental and medical problems in the future such as gum disease, infection, bone loss, heart disease, strokes and more. Here are some tips to help you look after your teeth. 1. Brush at least twice a day. 2. Use fluoridated toothpaste. 3. Brush thoroughly. Tooth brushing should take between two and three minutes. 4.
