Cucumber- Calamans Ingredients One ounce Beefeater gin, one ounce Dolin Blanc vermouth, one and half ounces cucumber-calamansi-honey mix, 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters and cucumber-calamansi-honey mix (Combine one part cucumber water (juiced cucumbers), one part honey and two parts frozen calamansi lime puree. Blend together and store for later use.)

PASTA COOKING MISTAKES Fish Fingers With Whole Meal Breads
H
omemade fish fingers are easy to make and cook in no time. Plus you know exactly what's in them! Try them in a pitta sandwich with spicy mayo. Ingredients For the fish fingers, 1 freerange egg, 75g or two and a half oz. white breadcrumbs, pinch paprika, 250g/9oz firm white fish, such as hake or cod, cut into bite-sized strips, 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, salt and freshly ground black pepper. To serve we need 2 tbsp. mayonnaise, half tsp curry powder, squeeze of lemon juice, 4 whole meal breads, 1 Cos lettuce or baby gem, leaves torn into pieces. Method In a shallow bowl whisk the egg.

In another bowl combine the breadcrumbs and paprika, season with salt and pepper. Dip the fish fingers into the egg, making sure they are completely coated and shaking off any excess. Then carefully dip the fish fingers in the breadcrumb mixture to coat them all over.
Not choosing the right shape. There's a purpose for nearly all of them (okay, maybe not this one), and they aren't always interchangeable. If you don't have the pasta shape called for, make sure to swap in a similar shape. Blindly following the timing on the box. Think of the time listed as a suggestion, not the Gospel. Just to be safe, when the timer goes off, fish out one or two pieces and taste them. Overcooking pasta when baking. Speaking of mushy noodles … on the flip side, always undercook your pasta if it will also spend more than 10 minutes in the oven, since the pasta continues to cook as it bakes. That way, by the time the casserole is done, the pasta is perfectly al dente. Not salting the cooking water enough! This is, hands down, the biggest mistake home cooks make when cooking pasta. The boiling stage is the only point that you get to season the pasta throughout, and to get in the noodles, the water has to be very, very salty, like mouthful-ofocean-water salty. And that leads me to... Dumping all of the cooking water. When it's time to drain your pasta, don't pour all the water out. That's valuable stuff. Use it when serving the sauce!
Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Fry the fish fingers for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden-brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and drain on kitchen paper. While the fish is cooking combine the mayonnaise, curry powder and lemon juice in a small bowl and set aside. Serve the fish fingers in whole meal pittas with the mayonnaise and lettuce.

ommonly referred to as high blood pressure. BLOOD PRESSURE is the pressure with which blood is pumped from the heart and through the intricate blood system throughout the body. It is generally accepted that there is a wide range of blood pressures that can be considered normal as variations occur based on one’s body mass, fitness level and even genetics. If your blood pressure is 120-139/60-90mmHg this is generally fine. Vigorous activity can also cause slight variations.

Absolutely anybody; males, females, adults and even children can have hypertension. Generally speaking the largest burden lies with middle aged to elderly adults and sometimes the disease process begins many years before it is actually detected. So this underlies the importance of yearly medical physicals to try and screen for diseases like hypertension, obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, cervical and breast cancer amongst others.

Some symptoms which are red flags and important to seek medical attention include any kind of severe chest pain, continuous headaches of any type with varying response to medications, visual or auditory disturbances, unsteady gait, fast or irregular heartbeat and dizzy spells and/or fainting episodes.

s a former first grade teacher, teaching children to read is one of my greatest passions! In summary, here are some practical suggestions you can implement every day based on the strategies shared with you in this post and previous posts.
Obviously, you can’t implement all of these suggestions with children of all ages, so use your judgement about what is best for your child. 0 Read to your child every day! 0 Ask your child questions before, during, and after reading. 0 Let your child see you reading. 0 Look for letters while out and about
and in the environment around you. 0 When teaching letters and letter sounds, incorporate as many senses as possible. 0 Read a variety of books and make a game out of guessing the genre. 0 Have fun rhyming! 0 Work on letter sounds and manipulating them within words (phonemic awareness) 0 Encourage your child to sound out short words (consonant, vowel, consonant). 0 Practice memorizing a few sight words each day. 0 Most of all, have fun together!
