OFFERS MEDICAL SERVICES TO 1,200 MSASANI PRIMARY SCHOOLS STUDENTS The Rotary Club of Oyster Bay in Dar es Salaam has provided medical services to 1,200 students of Msasani A and B primary schools in a oned a y m e d i c a l c a m p o n t h e s c h o o l ’s p r e m i s e s o n 27th Aug. The services included medical checks, treatments for dental conditions, eyesight, m a l a r i a , d e w o r m i n g , E N T ( e a r, n o s e & t h r o a t ) , a n d skin conditions as well as counselling for hygiene and other matters.
A d d i t i o n a l l y, t h e s t u d e n t s w e r e s u p p l i e d w i t h respective medications, hygiene materials such as s a n i t a r y p a d s , f o o d a n d w a t e r. T h e e v e n t w a s s u p p o r t e d b y D i a m o n d Tr u s t B a n k , Knight Support and Whitedent and in cooperation with the doctors of Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU), the medical students of Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and the countless effort of its volunteers.
R o t a r y O y s t e r B a y ’s s u p p o r t f o r M s a s a n i P r i m a r y Schools does not end with the medical camp. The club has carried out a number of projects at the school in the past, such as a water and sanitation project, access to clean and safe drinking water to all students and the refurbishment and restocking o f t w o s c h o o l l i b r a r i e s . I n t h e l a s t y e a r, R o t a r y Oyster Bay also financed a perimeter wall for the protection of school properties and the safety of students. More activities to support the schools are planned throughout the ongoing year and in future.
The Rotary Club of Oyster Bay was founded in 2009 and has currently about 60 members. It is the largest of the five Rotary Clubs in Dar es Salaam and supports the community with a wide range of projects, among those another medical-camp to support rural dwellers in Kerege, the Vijana Poa project to help young university students, the R o t a r y D a r M a r a t h o n t o a s s i s t t h e w o r k o f C C B R THospital, the support of wonder workshop as well a s “ R o t a r y M i s s i o n G r e e n ”, a d i s t r i c t e f f o r t t o plant trees.
