ino’s new 700 Series model line-up offers new 4x2 and 6x2 rigid trucks as well as new 6x4 and 8x4 models for the heavier end of the market. H “It breaks fresh ground for Hino in terms of safety and environmental commitment, which are key features that customers value in today’s competitive marketplace,” says Hino Australia manager of product strategy,

The interior takes design Daniel Petrovski. Hino is calling the new 700 Series the cues from the updated safest Hino ever, fitted with the most 500 Series, with swathes of comprehensive safety package the carbon and earthy tones manufacturer has offered to date. Two key safety systems added to the Hino SmartSafe package are the Driver Monitor (DM) that features driver assist features, as well as the pre-collision system (PCS) with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), pedestrian detection (PD), lane departure warning system (LDWS), vehicle stability control (VSC) and reverse camera.

“At Hino, safety is a central design principle, and all 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 variants of the allnew 700 Series range are equipped with Hino SmartSafe,” Petrovski says.

“The 700 Series answers a lot of the major safety issues that confront the transport industry and other road users, with the implementation of advanced driver assist technologies, Hino SmartSafe and, more specifically, the introduction of Driver Monitor.”

More power options are offered for the latest 700 Series with the new Euro 6 A09C nine-litre diesel engine alongside the existing E13C 13-litre engine, all mated to two-pedal transmissions with no manual option for the first time.

“The all-new 700 Series is built as a vehicle for today and for the future – Australian customers clearly prefer the convenience of two-pedal transmissions, which is why the expanded Hino 700 Series model range is

Only automatics are on offer, with no manuals for the first time now available with either a true automatic or an automated manual transmission (AMT), which are matched to their respective engine power ratings,” Petrovski says.

The Euro 6 A09C starts at 320hp (239kW) and 1,275Nm in the FH 1832 4x2, FR 2632 6x2 and FS 2632 6x4 models, while the larger FY 3036 8x4 model takes on a more powerful version of the same nine-litre engine pushing out 360hp (268kW) and 1,569Nm.

At the larger end of the 700 Series range, the SS 2848 6x4 prime mover, FS 2848 6x4 rigid and FY 3248 8x4 rigid models use the existing E13C-BK producing 480hp (358kW) and 2,157Nm, albeit tweaked for a wider spread of torque.

The A09C is mated to the six-speed Allison 3200 automatic transmission in 320hp guise, while the higher-output 360hp variant scores the stronger six-speed Allison 4440.

For the larger E13C engine, Hino mates it to the latest generation ZF 16-speed AMT, the TraXon TX 2441TO.

Inside the 700 Series, Hino has paid attention to practicality and driver comfort with an updated cab.

Following on from the exceptional cab on the 500 Series, the 700 Series runs a similar modern interior that wouldn’t look out of place in a passenger car.

“In designing the all-new 700 Series, there has been considerable focus on the needs of the driver, as the cab is their home away from home as well as their office,” Petrovski says.

“The all-new 700 Series sets a new standard for the interior of heavy-duty Japanese-built trucks, with next-generation ISRI 6860 NTS2 driver’s seat, UN ECE R29-compliant cab and a highly intelligent multimedia unit.”

The entire 700 Series range is now equipped with an electronic brake system (EBS) combined with the Hino Taper Roller brake system, offering improved bite while reducing maintenance.

Auxiliary braking is taken care of across the range with a Jacobs engine brake, while 13-litre models also receive a ZF intarder integrated into the 16-speed AMT.

“Superior auxiliary braking is a feature which is highly valued by drivers and improves the ease of operation while driving in regional or metropolitan applications, and importantly offers confident control of the vehicle during downhill descents,” Petrovski says.

A vote of confidence for the new 700 Series is the Hino Advantage package aimed at reducing costs and extending the life of the vehicle, which includes capped-price servicing as an option.

The entire range of 700 Series models score a three-year/500,000km standard warranty with the option to extend it out to five years.
