primed and ready
After Norco Primex Field Days was postponed last year, the expo returned for 2021’s iteration with event organisers determined to make up for lost time. Anthony Wingard was there to check out some of the highlights
Norco Primex Field Days, now considered one of the country’s leading primary industries events, drew a crowd of thousands across its three days in Casino, New South Wales, in May. Hundreds of exhibitors showcased the latest in sustainable farming as well as the newest farming machinery and equipment on the market. Here are some of the stand-outs on show.
TGB 2021 BLADE 600 SE ATV
This year has seen the return of TGB ATVs to the Australian market after an absence that goes back to 2010, but now, the Taiwanese-built vehicles are back and are distributed through the Lismore Tractor and Machinery Centre. Among the offerings is the Blade 600 SE, a tough, reliable ATV with more horsepower (42hp/31kW), built to withstand the rigours of regular farm work. Where the 600 SE differentiates is through its electronic power steering – a tri-mode speed sensitive setting that can assist riders to ensure the most comfortable ride. Riders can select between no assist, minimum and maximum by toggling the digital display. All TGB ATVs sold in Australia will offer a compliant occupant protection device (OPD) as an option and will be sold as standard equipment as of October 2021.
NEW HOLLAND T5 90S EC
New Holland’s T5 range employs the new semi-power shift electro command (EC) transmission, a 16 forward and 16 reverse gear option capable of delivering high power to the engine to cope with a range of demanding operating conditions. The electronic draft control system comes standard across all T5 range tractors and means operators can lift as much a 5,400kg with the machine’s hydraulics while the engine in the T5 90S will produce a maximum 88hp (66kW). New Holland’s small-mid range tractor offering has also been given a facelift with what the company calls a modern, aggressive design.
AGRIFARM ‘AGRIVATOR’ AV SERIES AERATORS
Custom-built by the team at Agrifarm in Taree, New South Wales, the Agrivator AV Series of aerators is ideal for shattering and allowing water absorption into the soil and expansion of root zone in pasture and crops. The Agrivator aerator range comes in five different sizes, all built with a heavy duty frame design, ranging from 1.5–4m and three hydraulic fold sizes from 4–6m. With cable seeders available in modules of 900mm in width and mounted on the rear right hand side member of the aerator frame, the seeders are able to hold 22 litres per module.

GIL SIEMBRA DIRECTA DISCO SEEDER
Ideal for farmers who need a machine for medium-sized properties and want the reliability and quality of direct sowing with disc, the GIL Disco seeder makes use of the well-known single disc opener with a mounted depth control wheel system. The result means the seeder can offer great digging while providing highly accurate seed placement; and is capable of performing consistently even across uneven terrain. Available in 3m and 3.5m versions, the Disco allows for a multitude of combinations of seeding, given the machine’s two electric motors and micro hopper, front hopper and double head distributor options.
HERCULES H700 LOADERS
Hercules’ range of wheel loaders has been reinforced to be both stronger and longer – giving operators increased performance and reliability through its 100hp (75kW) Cummins engine and 4.13m bucket height. The full range of Hercules wheel loaders are distributed by the Yatala-based Brisbane Mini Excavator Sales (BMES), which fits the air conditioning units and provides a full complement of spare parts for the loaders, on top of a full warranty for 12 months. The new models have improved heavy duty transmission and heavy duty differentials.
CFMOTO 2021 CFORCE 520 EPS ATV
While each member of CFMoto’s 2021 ATV range will certainly do the job, it is the 520 EPS that is ideal for farm life and in the paddock. Powered by a 500cc engine and electronic power steering, the 520 EPS’ performance capabilities, including 250mm of ground clearance and towing capacity of 350kg, mean the 520 EPS can be used across myriad farm tasks. All 2021 models are fitted to comply with stage two safety standards under the new ATV legislation, with the prices for CFMoto ATVs including an installed Quadbar OPD.
VALTRA G SERIES TRACTOR
Fresh off gracing the cover of last month’s edition of Farms & Farm Machinery, the Valtra G Series tractor made an emphatic showing at Primex – one of the first units to enter the country. Remarkably easy to operate, the G Series is the first tractor in the 100–145hp (75–108kW) range to offer SmartTouch controls and precision farming capabilities behind the power of a six-speed powershift gearbox. Described as the Swiss army knife of farming, the G Series boasts a range of functions and capabilities, including an improved integrated front loading subframe, but its smaller size offers increased versatility in and around farms.
