Moving materials with ease with Cargo Floor

THE CARGO FLOOR MOVING FLOOR SYSTEM OFFERS THE TEAM AT PEARCE SMITH LOGISTICS GREATER PRODUCTIVITY AND VERSATILITY FOR THEIR RECYCLING TRANSPORT APPLICATION.

It was seven years ago that Pearce Smith Logistics’ owner and director, Justin Spencer, was fi rst introduced to a BPW Transpec product. Quality and performance of the products and the customer service of the BPW team has made Justin stick with the company since then. For nearly four years Justin’s team has been using the Cargo Floor CF500 SLC moving fl oor system for its transport contract with IQ Renew. The multi-functional operating unloading and loading Cargo Floor moving fl oor system features a sophisticated design and robust construction, low tare weight and also allows maximum payloads and cargo volumes while being fully hydraulically operated. Cargo Floor is ideally suited for unloading of a wide variety of bulk products horizontally, fast and effi ciently without having to tip. “The Cargo Floor system in my trailers is a great product. For me to be able to unload my 48’ moving fl oor trailer takes me around eight-nine minutes whereas other systems I’ve seen take longer to load and unload,” Justin says. “For me, this product is great because my trucks are in and out of a site quicker. I’ve never had any problem with its operation for my recycling transport job for IQ Renew. “IQ Renew is a recycling company that services curb side recycling for over a million households in Sydney. As a fulltime contractor of IQ Renew, we have been providing transport for all aspects of their business for over three years– from transporting material into their recycling facility as well as taking out materials such as paper, cardboard and plastic that go to be recycled and turned into other products. “Although I’ve only been in the transport recycling business for the past three-four years, I haven’t had the need to look around at any other brand or product because I’m very happy with the performance of the Cargo Floor system.” The Cargo Floor moving fl oor transport system is based on the friction principle between the sliding fl oor and load. The loading and unloading fl oor on which the product is positioned consists of loose profi les that are positioned in parallel next to each other and subdivided into three groups. The fl oor can move as a whole unit in one direction and the load will shift with it; or every group moves individually, and the load remains in place. The standard Cargo Floor

moving fl oor system is ideally suited to the transport of almost all common products. Cargo Floor also has a range of different drive units and fl oor sections available for special applications. Cargo Floor systems fulfi ll all important transport needs including maximum cargo volume, low tare weight, low operational cost owing to virtually no maintenance needs, durability, human safety and environmental sustainability. “In terms of application there is no difference in loading or unloading of the product,” Justin says. “Whether the material being loaded or unloaded is lighter or fullweight, I get the same serviceability. There is no drag in the fl oor, it works at full capacity at all times.” BPW Transpec has been bringing Cargo Floor solutions to the local market for many years. The team prides itself on supplying reliable brands, durable products and highperformance equipment and associated components for the road transport, mining and agricultural industries. “The customer service I get from BPW Transpec is second to none,” Justin says. “There was a little electrical issue in my Euro-make truck when I fi rst picked it up. I got in touch with NSW Manager, Scott Merriman, and he and his team were on top of it. They made sure my truck was fi xed in a couple of hours. The priority for them was to have my truck back on the road as soon as possible.”

Light without compromise: SAF-Holland axles & suspensions

STREAMLINED MAINTENANCE AND A REDUCTION IN THE TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP ONLY BEGIN TO OUTLINE THE ADVANTAGES OF SPECIFYING SAF-HOLLAND AXLES AND SUSPENSIONS. THE EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST CONTINUES TO INNOVATE ITS INDUSTRY-PROVEN GEAR FOR HEAVY DUTY SPECIFICATIONS AND PERFORMANCE-BASED STANDARDS APPLICATIONS.

There are two major product groups under SAF-Holland’s axles and suspensions umbrella. INTRA: featuring a lightweight, fabricated trailing arm, rigidly connected or welded to the axle; and Modul: with its Z-shape design, 100mm-wide spring (single or twin) attached to the axle with U-bolts. Since 2018, the equipment specialist has also incorporated York axles and suspensions to its portfolio, enabling greater choice and flexibility for the end-user. The INTRA range, according to SAF-Holland Product Manager Asia-Pacific (APAC), Nemanja Miletic, is the lightest disc brake option in the market. “It is also the preferred choice for anyone looking to reduce tare weight and increase efficiency,” he says. “With a six-year / one-million-kilometre warranty on major components (bearings, 3D bushes, shocks), the INTRA series is the best return on investment for every dollar spent.” SAF-Holland is continuously engaged in research and development to make its products more efficient, more reliable and suitable for purpose-built applications. “The most recent ‘iteration’ of the SAF INTRA range, such as SAF TRAK (the first hydraulically driven trailer axle) and SAF PC (SAF Premium Coating, featuring increased zinc-based anti-corrosion protection for the axle and a 10-year warranty against suspension corrosion) are now part of the standard offering and not just an exclusive article developed for specific customers,” Nemanja says. “The offer for the Australian market is now standardised on a heavier spec with INTRA Custom Design (INTRA CD) which provides a thicker axle beam with HD – 3D bushes. At the moment, we are finetuning some components in order to customise them for tailored applications.” The SAF INTRADISC plus Integral premium axle features a ten-spoke wheel-end design that is weight optimised. “The ten-spoke wheel-end design is topology

optimisation of the hub that has been in service for decades,” Nemanja says. “Using a special computer software, the weight was reduced providing increased strength. Technically, you take material from the place where you need it the least and then transfer it where you could benefit the most. The design was then realised, tested extensively and validated. It is now part of the standard offering with 120mm offset wheels (suitable wide/super-single tyres). This exercise proves SAF-Hollands’ motto that nothing is so good that couldn’t be better.” With more than 500 retailers and 30 authorised service centres across Australia and New Zealand, SAF-Holland provides solid technical support and aftersales service. “Our technical services and engineering team are ready to answer your calls and technical queries,” Nemanja concludes.

Fast Fact

Wide-singles (385/65R22.5), according to SAF-Holland Product Manager AsiaPacific (APAC), Nemanja Miletic, are becoming more and more interesting for the Australian market. “SAF-Holland’s standard offering is readily available in its lightweight category (complete unit weight starting from 380kg); wider track (2,040mm) and wider hanger centres (1,200mm) provide more stability and roll-stiffness, making it ideal for Performance-Based Standards (PBS) applications,” he says. “This setup has been a standard option for years in New Zealand as they run on lower loads were every kilogram counts.”
