THE 2017 MINIATURE HErEFORD OFFERING The Mini Market has exploded! Just five years ago there were 40 miniature Hereford cattle at Houston; in 2017 there were 250 at the same show! Mini Herefords are registered through and governed by the American Hereford Association (AHA) and the association has started offering open, pre-junior and junior classes at most of the major stock shows. The Texas State Hereford Show provides a separate show just for Mini’s during the regular Hereford show, and there is also a National Miniature Hereford Show in late June. The TJLA recognizes and awards points for Mini Hereford classes, and county fairs and local jackpots have also added classes strictly for Mini’s; it is a ton of fun! Youth may start showing Mini Herefords with assistance at the age of 3. Mini Herefords have been easy keepers and well-tempered. They are classified by height restrictions; 45 inches and under for females, 48 inches or smaller for males.
