Celebrate the Bond of Sisterhood with Lumba Rakhi from Rakhi.Primogiftsindia.com As women, we all know the importance of a woman in a man’s life. Brothers have always been a source of constant pampering and providers of care and guidance, but let’s just be honest! When it came to sharing our secrets and chatting about that special cute looking guy in office, we all needed our sisters our partners in crime. From borrowing jewellery to fighting over the favourite corner in the bed, there are certain things that brothers can never make up for.

In this country most family festivals are centred on a male, be it Rakhi or Karwa Chauth. Well! I don’t want to sound like a moronic feminist, but I sometimes wished there was someone, who could tie me a rakhi, like I did to my brother. That dream was fulfilled when my brother married Ishani. She was a perfect Rajasthani in every aspect of her life. She exudes colour, vibrancy and joy, everywhere she went. Like me, she too didn’t have a sister, and we bonded instantly. She was the one who introduced me to Lumba rakhis. Lumba rakhi is considered as an auspicious rakhi thread that is tied around the wrist of a sister in law, signifying the bond of friendship and love. Once the festival got over, the rakhis adorns the walls of the house, signifying good luck and prosperity.

The job of my brother demands him to stay far away from us, and since the last 3 years I have been sending him traditional rakhis from rakhi.primogiftsindia.com. I never experimented with him, because he was way too elder to me and treated me more like a daughter than a sister. This year I choose a Rudraksha rakhi for him as he has a great liking for auspicious rakhis. The gifts he chose to send to me as return gifts were either apparels or some statutes of Lord Ganesh or Buddha.

Ishani on the other hand, was almost like a buddy and didn’t have any fascination for traditional rakhis or Rudraksha rakhis. Her gifts and her rakhis always arrived before my brother. This year she had sent me a Kundan rakhi. I had only mentioned once to her that I found Kundan rakhis very chic and she seems to have remembered that. As a return gift, I choose a gift hamper made of exotic Swiss chocolates and a giant white teddy bear, along with a beautiful handcrafted rakhi. I am sure; she will be hanging that handcrafted rakhi on the wall of her bedroom and will be eagerly waiting to show them to her entire family once the festival is over.
