Delicious Recipes for Bhai Dooj Festival: Simple & Easy to Make at Home!!

Sweets are an essential part of Bhai Dooj celebrations. It adds extra sweetness and excitement in the festival of lights. Bhaidooj recipes include various types of traditional sweets such as Gajar Halwa, Malpua and Kaju Burfi, etc. Celebrate this Bhaidooj is homemade delicious dishes. Try these simple Bhaidooj sweet recipes.

1. Gajar Halwa

This delicious Indian recipe comes with packed fresh carrots. It supplies plenty of Vitamin A which is known for good eye sight and radiant skin.

Ingredients

    

200 grams of carrots grated 2 tablespoon(s) condensed milk 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons fresh cream 4 tablespoons powdered sugar

2 tablespoon of Desi ghee Pinch of cardamom powder & Blanched nuts (like almonds and raisins)

Method

Heat the ghee in a pan on low level till it gets melted. Add grated carrots and fry it well. Fry the carrots for about 20 minutes or till it is cooked. Mix milk, powdered sugar and condensed milk/khoya. Cook this mixture on a low flame without lid for 5 minutes and stirring occasionally. Decorate it with fresh cream. Sprinkle cardamom powder and blanched nuts. Keep on low flames for about 2 minute(s). Serve hot or cool as you like.

2. Malpuya

Malpuya is also called as Indian pan cake. It is a popular Indian sweets served during festivals. It is easy to make at home.

Ingredients


For Rabri  

1 litre of full cream milk 1 cup Sugar

For the Syrup    

1 cup Sugar 1 cup Water Half spoon tsp Cardamom Powder Saffron strands

For the Malpua     

500 grams of all Purpose Flour 1/2 tsp Baking powder Slivered almonds and pistachios to garnish 400 grams of Sweetened Condensed Milk Ghee

Method

For Rabri -

Pour the milk and 1 cup of sugar in a thick-bottomed fry-pan. Boil it till it is reduced to 4th of its original volume while stirring frequently. Remove it from the flames and allow it to cool down and refrigerate it.

For Syrup

Pour same quantity of sugar and water in a frying pan. Boil it until you get a single-thread consistency. Add saffron threads & cardamom powder. Mix well. Keep it aside to use it later

For Malpua -

In a large bowl, mix the condensed milk, refined flour and baking powder together to form a smooth batter. Heat enough ghee in a deep frying pan for frying Malpuas. Pour the batter into the hot oil to form circles about 4" in diameter and till they become golden brown. Remove from the oil and put the Malpuyas into the sugar syrup. Take out from the syrup after 2-3 minutes and drain on a wire rack. Now to serve, place 2 Malpuas in a plate, spoon rabri over them and garnish with sliver almonds and chopped pistachios.
