Volumetric Vessels Volumetric Vessels introduce the schematic analysis of a painting precedent to generate a kit of parts. These elements are transformed from 2d layered planes, colors and lines into 3D forms to render the character and material of spaces. The design process focuses on the development of these discrete architecture volumes through the digital and material definition of solid geometric volumes into serial, cross-sectional voids. The characters are categorized as a taxonomy of primary material, geometric, spatial elements that will inform program and a site driven architectural composition.

Burgoyne Diller was the first American artist to adopt the tenets of Mondrian’s Neoplasticis, which he explored simultaneously, each theme corresponding to a different type of relationships between planes, lines, and colors. The First Theme displays rectangles arranged without a grid structure, the Second Theme includes rectangle crosses to form a single grid, and the Third Theme forms an elaborate grid structure. The present study belongs to the third theme, in which Diller was influenced by the dynamism of Mondrianʼs late works, such as Victory Boogie-Woogie.

Masion Cook Study
The Masion Cook, or Villa Cook, by architect Le Corbusier was built in Boulogne-sur-Seine, Paris, France in 1926. Recognized as one of the first works in which Le Corbusier projects according to the “five points” of the architecture: piles, roof garden, open plan, free facade and the side sliding window, as well as employment of the layout control. The project approach is characteristic for the distribution pattern of spaces is common in reverse order, as the rooms are on the first floor, second floor is located the room-dining room and the third is located in the library and terrace.

Bath House
The Bath House organizes the volumetric vessels to introduce the role of section as the primary tool for defining interior space and enclosure. A process of excavation and carving establishes the primary space making and site shaping methods to create inhabitable zones of architecture. Designing the characteristics of the area and volume included within the territory underground, below the horizon, students will create the sequential spaces for a Bath House. Each space will accommodate the human body, water and light as a cumulative set of experiences using color and material to further define unique qualities, thresholds, and opportunities for entry and view.

You flow down with the stepwells in which you experience the journey of a “diya” or clay lamp flowing down the Ganga river on Dev Diwali. At some point, you experience the elements of Air, Earth, and Water, parts of the “pancha mahabhuta”.As you go further down, you flow out into the “akash”orthevoid, anopenspacewithonlyyouandthesky.
