Bill Kenwright presents

NEWS OF THE WORLD

‘THE MUSICAL OF THE DECADE’ INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE

Starring X Factor’s

NIKI EVANS as Mrs Johnstone Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences. Starring X Factor’s Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone, the superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award-winning Blood Brothers, and this production, having recently celebrated its 21st phenomenal year in London, continues to enjoy standing ovations at every devastating performance. No wonder Blood Brothers is now ‘THE MUSICAL FOR ALL TIME’.

JOHN EDWARD

PINK FLOYD

SAT 9 JUL 2pm

The Award Winning local company Toads Stage Musical Company, return to the Princess Theatre with their annual summer musical. East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna’s assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story. Along with the dazzling score, the incomparable Jerome Robbins ballet, The Small House of Uncle Thomas, is one of the all-time marvels of the musical stage. Always a firm favourite with the public, the score also includes I Whistle A Happy Tune, Hello Young Lovers, Getting To Know You, Something Wonderful and Shall We Dance, and of course not forgetting all those wonderful children who play the kings extended family. 12 x
