This year we are delighted to offer new programs, including Pretty Brook Day Camp, as well as our annual favorites to students in grades PreK through 12. By June, our 106-acre campus will be teeming with natural scientists studying pond life, lacrosse players cradling balls, sculptors working with clay, actors and directors producing plays and movies, and tennis players perfecting their serves. These and all of our activities are designed with one overarching principle in mind: kids ought to have fun in the summer.

Facilities
Our campus features multiple fields and facilities for tennis, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, football, and baseball, as well as a fitness center. The Lisa McGraw ’44 ice rink is open for ice skating and ice hockey camps. We have computer labs, several art rooms, a ceramics studio, a photography lab, an architecture lab, science labs, a music suite that includes a computer lab and individual practice rooms, two kitchens, a 350-seat air-conditioned theater and three gyms. All of the classrooms used by Summer Programs are airconditioned, as is our student center where lunch and snacks are served. Our goal is to provide children with a nurturing and stimulating environment, which will allow them to discover new interests, develop new talents and encourage exploration of the unknown. Our faculty, most of whom are from Princeton Day School, are selected for their exceptional qualifications and love of teaching. Experienced staff members genuinely care about your child and are committed to providing excellent educational programs and support.

Pre-Camp and Extended Day Care Program
We offer a pre-camp option beginning at 7:30 a.m. and an extended day recreational program until 5:30 p.m. Campers will be able to use our gyms and have access to computers, board games, and other fun activities.
Lunch and Snacks
Snacks and lunch are available in our air-conditioned campus center. Morningonly campers may stay for lunch and will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. for pick up. Lunch is available to afternoon campers at 11:30 a.m. (before their program begins). All camps break for snack at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Campers may bring their lunch and snacks from home or purchase all or part of the menu at PDS.

Introducing: Pretty Brook Day Camp
A Traditional Day Camp at Princeton Day School At Pretty Brook Day Camp, campers in Grades 1-8 will get the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities in a traditional day camp setting. In a typical session, campers will engage in a variety of arts and crafts, athletics, academic, and outdoor programs. We are pleased to offer Archery as part of Pretty Brook Day Camp this summer. Our experienced and compassionate staff will guide your child throughout the camp day, creating a safe, educationally stimulating, and unforgettably fun experience. By encouraging creativity and self-expression in a beautiful environment, Pretty Brook Day Camp offers a great day camp option right in the heart of Princeton.
Panther Mini-Camp
Panther Mini-Camp is exclusively for toilet-trained preschoolers from grades PreK through Kindergarten. This enriching camp program features sole use of the PDS preschool classroom and early childhood playground equipment. Children will have the opportunity to explore the wider campus for many of their activities. Camp routines are centered around exciting weekly themes and include: music & movement, arts & crafts, dramatic play, engagement with children’s literature, sequencing and number fun, water play, and exploration of the natural world.

Camps include:
Algebra Math Lab
Grades 6-8 We offer one-on-one instruction in a small group setting to enhance students’ grasp of the fundamentals of algebra. Every effort is made to meet the individual needs of each student.
Chess: Beginner and Experienced
Grades 1-8 Beginner players will learn all the skills they need to play chess. Experienced chess players will learn new positions, study and improve their tactics, and, of course, play lots of chess. The Experienced course is open to players with a year or more experience playing chess or with permission from the instructor. Grades 4-8 Campers will practice computer programming, engineering and team-building skills in the construction of motorized Lego robots that move electronically according to their programmers’ instructions.

Lego Robotics
Language Arts and Math: From Athena to Zeus
Grade 3 In this two-session (4-week) camp, children will develop reading and writing skills while learning about ancient Greece. Math is taught with problems that revolve around the world of Greek gods and goddesses. This is a great way to practice important skills while having fun. Taught by experienced PDS faculty, this and other Language Arts camps are wonderful cross-disciplinary enrichment programs.
Ooey Gooey Science Fun
Grades 1-2 This course is an opportunity to be a mad or silly scientist with hands-on experiments and creative concoctions and potions. Young scientists have the opportunity to learn the basic concepts governing science through fun play and teaching.

Camps include:
Acting Onstage
Grades 2-4 Campers will engage in improvisational games and character work, and will ultimately create a play. Acting technique, movement and voice, and scene study are just a few aspects of this course for the budding actor. The session concludes with a group performance.
Art: Crazy for Clay
Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-4 This course explores various methods of hand building with clay. We use coil building, slab building, and sculptural techniques to create pottery with attention to the essentials of form and design. In addition, campers learn various glazing techniques while they explore a wide range of styles. The sculptures will be featured in a gallery show on the final Friday of the session.
Art Studio 101: Drawing, Painting, & Collage
Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-4 This course explores the making of an artistic composition with a focus on several media: painting, drawing, and collage. Campers will work with a variety of materials including charcoal, pastel, ink, watercolor, and acrylic. Subjects will include still life, landscape, and the figure. The campers’ work will be featured in a gallery show on the final Friday of the session.
Cooking: Kitchen Concoctions
Grades 1-2 Campers will measure, mix, blend, and whip up a variety of delicious concoctions. At the end of the course, each camper will receive a personalized cookbook including all of the recipes and goodies from the course.
Summer Garden Exploration
Grades 1-2 Explore the plants, insects, birds and animals that live in and around the garden. Campers will have daily garden chores which will include caring for the PDS chickens and maintaining the compost piles. Grazing will be a daily activity, allowing for time to taste new vegetables and herbs and enjoy old favorites.

Athletic Allstars
Grades 3-6 Athletic Allstars offers campers the opportunity to learn and play many different sports, both indoor and outdoor. In one week, campers will experience five different sports. Campers will learn the basics and fundamentals of each sport including rules, regulations, safety, basic skills, and proper play, and then have the opportunity to play in scrimmages, drills, and other events. Sports offered during the week may include football, basketball, floor hockey, baseball/ softball, lacrosse, track and field, soccer, volleyball, and field hockey.
Hockey: Competitive Edge Ice Hockey
Ice Skating
Grades 1-12 All sessions welcome campers to this structured skating program. Campers are coached in basic skills, and daily instruction on the following: basic jumps, spins, footwork, edges, stroking and choreography for a group skating performance to be presented at the end of each session. In each session, skaters spend approximately half of the time in small group instruction and the other half in supervised practice skate.

Grades 1-6 & 7-12 Learn about competitive hockey from Scott Bertoli, former Trenton Titan, as well as the current PDS boys varsity ice hockey coach. Having led ice hockey programs with Competitive Edge for the past ten years, Bertoli is prepared to take full advantage of the facilities at Princeton Day School this summer and take these campers to the next level.
Martial Arts
Grades 1-8 This is an introduction to martial arts. Campers will improve mental alertness, self-confidence, discipline, concentration, balance and agility in a safe and positive learning environment.

Tennis
Grades 1-9 Princeton Day School’s tennis camp celebrates its 29th year in 2014. Players are grouped by age and ability with an appropriate balance between drills, leadup games and competitive play. Also, check out our athletic camps with our partners: 76ers Basketball Camp, 76ers Dance Camp, New York Yankees Baseball Camp, Pro Level Training’s Nike Basketball Camp.
adventure Camps include:
Canoeing the Waters of New Jersey
Grades 5-8 Explore the varied waterways of New Jersey by canoe. Learn the basics of canoeing on day trips to the Pine Barrens, canals, lakes, and the Delaware River. All gear, transportation and canoes will be provided.
Mountain Biking: Off Road
Grades 4-8 Campers will learn about mountain biking safety, bike maintenance and the skills needed to maneuver over and around obstacles. We will cycle off road hitting the local trails and take trips to off-site biking trails via school bus. Campers are responsible for bringing their own bikes and helmets.
Vermont Multisport Adventure Trip
Grades 7-9 Led by experienced PDS faculty, campers will canoe, mountain bike, hike, and camp in some of the most scenic and pristine areas in Vermont.
