JANUARY 1, 2023 EPIPHANY SUNDAY

CURIOUS?

ANNOUNCEMENTS COMMUNION OFFERING TODAY Today Our Communion Offering for January benefits the United Methodist Special Sunday: Human Relations Day. Giving on Human Relations Day nurtures at-risk youth, strengthens communities’ selfimprovement efforts, and advocates for the oppressed. Let’s become more comfortable with being outside our social circles than we are within them. Let’s be more like Jesus, together, on Human Relations Day. You can contribute today by visiting princetonumc.org/give-pumc and designating "Human Relations Day" in the comments. You can also mail a check to Princeton UMC, 7 Vandeventer, Princeton, NJ, 08542. ALTAR FLOWERS We have three Sundays without flower donors for February. Please consider to memorialize or honor a loved one. Cost is $45. Please indicate FLOWERS on your form of payment. Contact Pam Nugent (poodleluvs@aol.com) for more information. JANUARY 8 | 9:00 AM GROW BIBLE STUDY Youth gather next Sunday morning for bagels and Bible Study! Call to Worship adapted from Steve Garnaas-Holmes People of faith, look! In our darkness a light shines: the star is love. Alleluia! We follow the star of love. The star moves ahead of us, and leads us faithfully. Alleluia! We follow the star of love. The star hides itself in each of us: in everyone we meet, in all God’s people. Alleluia! We follow the star of love. Hymn

Angels from the Realms of Glory

UMH #220

Prayer of Confession adapted from Steve Garnaas-Holmes and Thom Shuman God of Love, we confess we do not always follow your star of love; Yet, God, We want to follow the star of love. we turn aside and leave the path; we weary of the journey and turn to other things. Yet, God, We want to follow the star of love. We confess we sometimes cooperate with Herod, the powers that seek to diminish your light. We need help, God, because We want to follow the star of love. We have many gifts to give, and we sometimes fail to give our gifts, keeping them hidden or letting them fade away. Forgive us; renew your Spirit in us. Be our star and guide us. We want to follow the star of love. silence for prayer

The Lord's Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kin-dom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for yours is the kin-dom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Prayer After Receiving Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves for others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
