Call to Worship We come together as a church family, to love you, and to become more like you, God. Bless the LORD, O my soul, bless God's holy name. Help us to be fully present here, so that we might truly Bless the LORD, O my soul, bless God's holy name. Let all that is within us— hands and feet, mind, heart, and soul — Bless the LORD, O my soul, bless God's holy name. As we see your courage, make us a courageous people. As we see your mercy, make us a merciful people. Bless the LORD, O my soul, bless God's holy name. As we see your passion, make us a passionate people. Hymn To God Be the Glory UMH #98 To God be the glory great things he hath done! So loved he the world that he gave us his Son, Who yielded his life, an atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in.
Refrain: Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice! O come to the Father through Jesus, the Son, and give him the glory great things he hath done! O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood! To every believer, the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives. {Refrain} Great things he hath taught us, great things he hath done, and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer and higher and greater will be Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see. {Refrain} Prayer of Confession Loving God, we admit that we are not always loving and kind. We know that we can be selfish and mean to other people, even to people we love. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. But God you love and forgive not only us, but all people. Teach us to be like you. Show us how to love and forgive those who are not kind or loving to us. Give us your power to forgive them when they are as selfish and mean as we sometimes are. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Help us forgive them when they do things and say words that hurt us. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Help us also when we aren't ready to forgive or to be forgiven. Give us courage, patience, and compassion, for others and for ourselves. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. {followed by silent prayer}
Words of Assurance Hear the good news. God does forgive us for all the impossibly unloving things we do and the hurting words we say. God also forgives others for the impossibly unloving things they do and hurtful words they say – even when they do them and say them to us. And, God walks with us as we find our ways to forgive each other. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Amen. {adapted from Carolyn Brown}

Sacrament of Holy Communion The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. . . . And so with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. . . . . On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
“Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” . . . And so in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again. . . . Through your son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy church, all honor is yours, almighty God, now and forever, Amen. The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Prayer After Receiving Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves for others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
And Scatter To Be in the World Hymn Grace Alone Every promise we can make, every prayer and step of faith, every difference we will make is only by his grace. Every mountain we will climb, every ray of hope we shine, every blessing left behind
FWS #2162
Refrain: is only by his grace. Grace alone which God supplies, strength unknown he will provide. Christ in us our Cornerstone; we will go forth in grace alone. Every soul we long to reach, every heart we hope to teach, everywhere we share his peace is only by his grace. Every loving word we say, every tear we wipe away, every sorrow turned to praise {Refrain} Benediction Postlude
