TO HEAR THE WORD AND REFLECT
Pre-Service Music Scherzo Duruflé Call to Worship adapted from Discipleship Ministries UMC The Lord our God is great. The Lord is worthy of our praise. Come; let us remember the great things God has done for us. Let us not neglect to teach our children the greatness of God. Let us not forget our past and those who have gone before us. We remember our ancestors, our history, the hurts and the healings, and we name our future. Let us lift up our voices in song, lift our arms in praise, and open our hearts in gratitude. Let us greet God with our hymn of praise and joy. Hymn

Prayer of Confession adapted from Thom Shuman We long to be set free from those 'powers' which control our lives; to let go of our fears of 'them;' to stop trying to build fences between us and those who are not like us. That is why our longing brings us to the living waters offered by our God, who allows us to fill our parched souls with a refreshing drink of forgiveness. Let us confess our sins, as we pray together, saying, There are words and actions which bind our lives to hurt, shame, fears, Lord. There is that anger that pushes away those around us. There are those thoughts that draw us into the shadows, where we seek to hide from you, hoping you do not see the lives we lead. Yet, you refuse to stay away but come closer to us in every moment, God who makes us whole. You would clothe us with grace, so we might be your people in this world. You would tear down all that separates us from others, so we might be one. You would make us heirs to the promise of life and hope with our Lord, Jesus Christ, who comes to heal us and make us your children. Amen. silence for prayer Words of Assurance Hear the Good news. God forgives us, so we might be new people. God equips us, so we might serve others. God sends us forth, so we might be a witness to everyone we meet. God leads us to speak to one another of God's hope and joy. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Alleluia, Amen. SHARING IN WORSHIP TODAY

Prayers of the People The Lord's Prayer Confirmand Jacob Gerold's Version My Loving God whose presence surrounds me daily. I honor and praise thy name. One day I will be blessed to join you in your kingdom. Bringing love, peace, and goodwill to all. I pray for food and water to feed your people. Provide us for our daily needs. Forgive our sins and help us to forgive others. Guide me so I can live my life through your lessons. Help me not to be tempted to follow the wrong paths in life that are evil and hurting others. Lord, you are the blessings of the world, the hope, love, caring for all. May I continue to follow your loving guidance through life. Amen. Hymn
