Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
UMH #89
Prayer of Confession We humans have short memories and little patience. Let's confess together how these attributes often lead us astray from God's path of joy. It's so easy, God, to forget that you created us for Joy. So many other experiences color our lives that joy can easily be pushed aside, given up on, lost in the shuffle. And even when we do seek the joy you created us for, God, we are impatient. We want it to come quickly, easily, on our terms. God, we give you our struggles with joy, and ask you to transform them. Help us trust you. Assure us that your joy, your way, is part of the fullness of life you intend for us. silence for prayer Words of Assurance God is patient, even when we are not. God remembers, even when we forget. God created us for joy, knows every fiber of our being, and will not stop delighting in us even so. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Alleluia, Amen.

Prayers of the People The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Offertory Hymn
