Call to Worship Love your God because the Lord has heard our voices and supplications. We are your children, Oh God. We call on God as long as we live because God hears us. We are your children, Oh God. We vow to the Lord, our God in the presence of all his people. We are your children, Oh God. We are in the house of the Lord in your presence. We praise you, Oh Lord! adapted from Psalm 116, 2022 PUMC Worship Team Hymn
Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days
UMH #269
Prayer of Confession Do you remember that Jesus gave his body and his blood for you? We confess that we often forget. Do you remember that Jesus humbled himself and washed your feet? We confess that we often forget. Do you remember why Jesus did these for you? We confess that we often do not understand.
Jesus gave us a new commandment to love each other as Jesus loved us. We will show that we are his disciples by loving one another. adapted from 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, John 13, 2022 PUMC Worship Team Assurance and Pardon Jesus said, "I came not to judge the world, but to save the world" and "having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” The good news therefore is this: In Jesus Christ, we are loved, and we are forgiven. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are loved, and we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Amen. adapted from Moira Laidlaw

Sung Response: Tell how Christ, the world’s Redeemer, as a victim won the day. Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be worshiped. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, in the Lord's word I hope; My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, More than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, with the Lord is plenteous redemption. And the Lord will redeem Israel from all iniquities. Sung Response: Showed us human life made perfect, shone as light amid the gloom. text from UMH #848 Scripture Reading John 13:1-17, 34-35 This is the Word of Life. Thanks be to God. Homily Rev. The Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. . . . And so with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. . . . . On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” . . . And so in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again. . . . Through your son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy church, all honor is yours, almighty God, now and forever, Amen. The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come; your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Prayer After Receiving Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves for others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Communion, Foot/Hand Washing, Prayer Stripping of the Altar The Dismissal
Depart in silence.
