-a centre of training for useful employment THESIS QUESTION-WHY A VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE IS REQUIRED? Vocational education and training is an important element of the nation’s education initiative. In order for vocational education to play its part effectively, there is a requirement to redefine the critical elements of imparting vocational education and training to make them flexible, contemporary, relevant, inclusive and creative. Vocational education basically teaches you how to earn a living. In today’s economy vocational jobs are becoming more and more important. Vocational training provides career and technical education to the interested students.

WHAT IS A VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE? A vocational training centre is a place where a person is trained so that he/she acquires practical or applied skills. It is that aspect of training which is designed to develop skills, abilities, understanding attitudes, work habits and appreciations, encompassing knowledge and info needed by workers to enter and make progress in employment on useful and productive basis.

PROPOSAL:The design of the proposed centre for the vocational education sets out to provide an environment for learners and educators which is positive , inspiring and conducive to learning. This achieved by providing a facility which is informal, yet provides all the facilities required by the centre users in order to best facilitate the achievement of teaching and learning goals. By considering the special needs of a learner, it has been established that the most effective learning environment are those which are flexible, comfortable and informal. The free flowing spaces allow both learners and educators, to make use of the facilities unrestricted and thereby establish an equitable relationship between the two parties, thereby enhancing the teaching and learning experience by reducing the discomfort brought about by imposing institutional environments.

LOCATION OF THE SITE The proposed site for the vocational institute for women is located in the western part of India in the state of Rajasthan. The city is located in the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan. The site measuring 3.1 HAC Falls in the institutional zone As marked in Jaipur master Plan 2001. the site has been reserved by university grants commission for the Vocational Institute.

THE COURTYARD:The courtyard with the sunken court is the focus of the scheme. The informal and comfortable nature of space will serve to set the tone for the entire scheme. Most of the functions including workshops, classrooms and craft workshops will have access to this outdoor space, thereby enriching it with the activity. The creations of spaces for chance meetings and informal gatherings is essential to the operation of a centre for adult education. The courtyard serves this purpose for gatherings, conversations and cultural integration to take place.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN PROJECT BRIEF The design concepts are developed out of the design brief which states that basic principles are to be present in the centre vocational education. These are interface, informality, legibility and flexibility. Concepts have been further developed to include comfort, adaptability and accessibility.

Interconnecting courts & greens axis from metro station To provide a sense of arrival & direction for those arriving by the metro.

Proximity of parking Buildings with respect to Vehicular movement & placement of buildings

CONCEPT SECTION: Un-restricted circulation of pedestrians as well as vehicles while maintaining the connection of the site with the city and the greens.

Project brief: The city centre is designated to the business and cultural hub at Noida. CONCEPT: “buildings in a garden” •Design strategies and concept: •Green spaces are interlinked but yet dispersed. •Pedestrians are given preference.

The site is located in sector-110A, pocket 2, Gurgaon, Haryana. The site is proposed for luxury housing. The site is spread over an area of 3.4 acres. The site offers 3BHK apartments and 4 BHK duplexes. There are 4 towers which are 8 storey high, which has led to a large area on ground level to be used as green spaces. FEATURES:•An excellent space plan- minimum passages and great room sizes. •Most of the spaces are naturally lit. •All apartments have superb cross ventilation.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The centre for DNA Fingerprinting and diagnostics (CDFD) is an Autonomous Scientific Research Institute set up by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The Centre provides service for Forensic DNA Fingerprinting, Bioinformatics and for the diagnostics of various human genetic disorders. The Institute has been allotted two plots of 4 acres and 16 acres respectively to set up laboratories, hostels, housing, services and other infrastructure facilities. The campus, including the buildings, need to be established with modern and environment- friendly design, comparable to academic campuses of international repute.
