VIT School Of Performing Arts Location: VIT Campus, Vellore Area:10.2 Acres Semester 5

The Project Brief is about the design of a new performing arts institution to the Vellore campus of VIT University. The site is located inside the campus and has a beautiful lake inside. The main concept of the design was to integrate the art forms together with an introverted design and create performing hubs and practise areas to facilitate the students. The lake is extended and is made into the main performing area in the institute. The chosen material for this project is compressed stabilised earth blocks because of its sustainable nature and its climatological response to its environment.

Cabin by the River

Location: Forest by the river Semester 2

The brief of this project is to design a holiday cabin in a forest for a musician with close proximity to the riverbank. The cabin is minimal and responds well to the climate with its adjustable windows and doors. This cabin serves as an inspirational space for the musician with the sound of forest and river surrounding the cabin. With the divided residential area and workspace, the musician can enjoy and work during his holidays in this haven in peace.

12

Concept

The longer axis of the cabin is placed facing the river to let the cool breeze flow through and capture beautiful views of the flowing river. The cabin is divided into residential and workspace which is connected by a personal bridge. Both the longer Axis has corridors running along to create a sensory outdoor experience.
