P a t i l S ch o o l Of Arc hi te c tu re, P une Hello, I am Priyanshi, a fourth year undergraduate student pursuing bachelors in architecture from Pune. I am from the city of Taj which is wellknown for its marvellous architecture and that’s what primarily developed my curiosity towards the science that goes behind great structures. I have always been an avid reader with a keen interest in learning about parametric and sustainable structures. My idea is to explore more into the parametric arena and find a way to merge art with architecture. Architecture holds the power to influence activities, emotions and human character and how these spaces can create an environment for the people and I am all in to master this form of sorcery. This portfolio is the compilation of my academic and related architectural and art projects from 2018 to 2022. These projects display my ideologies and interests towards the design approach.

TO THE ROOTS
Cultural and Tribal Gallery, Saputara.
Snuggled in the Sahyadris or the Western Ghats, Saputara is a quaint little hill station in the Dang district of Gujarat. Popular for lush green forests, undulating mountains, waterfalls, and livid landscapes, the town is the first favourite among tourists and is enriched with tribal culture of Dangs. Therefore, designing a Cultural and Tribal Gallery would only be fitting to make people aware about the practices initiated and carried out by the tribe. The Gallery aims to highlight the lifestyle, performance arts and their customs among the tourists. The brief of the project demanded a campus planning with spaces like workshop and library where visitors can profundly indulge themselves in the philosophy of the tribes which laid the roots of this town. 06

ABSOLUT(e)
Student’s Lounge, Pune.
DY Patil Knowledge City in Pune is a campus confining multi-disciplinary courses ranging from Bachelors of Dental Surgery to Architecture, Designing and Engineering. Student’s Lounge was proposed in this campus with an objective of providing relaxing and recreational space for students where they can communicate and collaborate. My approach towards this project was to create a space which is complete, unrestrained and hence, absolute. Designed spaces were LGBTQIA friendly where the upcoming generation can be comfortable of their sexuality surrounded by acknowledging people. Creating a built environment that will not be out of date in a few years and will last longer than expected is what this proposal aims for. 16

AKHYAN
Multi-Family Housing, Lonavala.
Solar Decathlon India (Finalist).
“Sustainability is no longer about doing less harm. It’s about doing more good.” Exploring the net-zero energy building approach and implementing it into a live project was our project brief. Our project is proposed for a 1.35 hectare site located in Lonavala in Pune district with Namrata Group as the owner and builder of the site. The proposal aims at combating the warm and humid climate type of Pune by optimising the demand and supply management via design and engineering strategies. The ‘Akhyan’ provides a net-zero design through the innovative integration of modern technology along with traditional wisdom. Various passive strategies are used to achieve energy efficiency in the given contemporary lifestyles. 26

ASTHANA’S RESIDENCE Residential Bungalow, Agra. Internship Project
A residential bungalow had to be designed for a family in Agra. Originally, they had bought two adjacent plots which were later on merged for the residential purpose. They had a special requirement which consisted of providing a lawn on the first floor rather than stilt so that they can experience it from their living rooms. The proposed design consisted of 8 bedrooms for a joint family and the spaces are provided as per Vaastu. The project had to be future proof as residential projects are often considered as a one time lumpsum investment. Amenity provisions such as gym, bar and a cafe were made for the joint family. A servant’s quarter and parking was proposed on the stilt. A rear entry was also provided directly to the lawn from ground floor via stairs. 36

HANDS-ON Miscellaneous...
CUT THE CRAP!
What goes around, comes around! Using one such approach a piece of furniture was designed and developed using waste materials. The concept primarily revolved around reusing plastic bottles and eventually other materials such as cardboards, cloth pieces, etc. 44

ASSEMBLY
Cardboard cartons were cut into two 600mm diameter circles forming the top and the base of the stool. Then, plastic bottles filled with stones were assembled and pasted on to the base. This composition was taped and fixed to maintain the base geometry.
Discarded sponges were pasted on the top cardboard piece to provide cushioning to the stool. The cardboard-bottle-sponge assembly was then wrapped in an old bedsheet to provide a cleaner look.
46
A cardboard piece was attached with plastic bottles as reinforcement to form the handle component of the mug-shaped stool. The sitting stool was made from reusing old materials ready for disposal and was tested against 70kgs of human weight.
