“the best way to predict the future, is to create it.” MANY PATHS: ONE PURPOSE Each one of us walks our own unique path, invisible strings of destiny pulling us towards our goals. We do what we can to be our best and excel in our lives with tireless striving. Live in comfort and convenience because we’ve earned it. But the uncomfortable truth is that we are a lot more connected than we think. The strings of destiny are intertwined and interconnected. Our planet connects us as one. We live in a culture of excess, spoilt with choice. Each of us acting on our individual aspirations and wants. We project ourselves as sophisticated and idealistic individuals, broadening our horizons each day. But together as a whole, are we doing our bit to have a better collective future? Kilimanjaro 2019 brings together people from all around the globe on a collective mission to do our bit to build a better future. Among them, we have two individuals representing India. Coming from vastly diverse fields, their stories intersect here with one purpose. Their guiding principle is to empower sustainable positive change in the world through art, design, and technology. Two millennials, from two major professions that make up today’s society, on a mission to knit the world together. They are here to tell you their story - that an enthusiastic engineer and an architect, who seem tangentially apart in their work fields, are part of something bigger - being the change makers of tomorrow. Vijay 26, has spent the better part of his life on a cycle with the goal of having a small carbon footprint and inspiring others to take up cycling, especially in the traffic congested city of Bangalore. With the intention of doing more, combined with his background as an engineer, in 2018, he set up the first 3D Printed Wind Generator in Antarctica. By creating a project and a story around it, he wanted to inspire his generation to think differently and build a better future along with him. The Generators design was released Open Source and design files and build instructions shared online for free so that anyone could recreate or improve on the design and generate power for themselves. Priya Tadinada 23, is a graduate Architect who has grown up with a huge passion towards a greener environment, reflecting a significant change through her design and work. She is currently exploring various facets of Architecture, with a keen interest towards Digital Design, advanced sustainable techniques through experiential design, human emotional connect and nature. Apart from Architecture - that she believes has become the most integral part of her life, Priya aspires to become a Public Speaker, with her story of Architecture - that is much more beautiful than what it is perceived as. As an avid lover of nature and an adventure enthusiast, she recently started Hiking as a stress buster from work and after scaling few smaller peaks, completed the Mt. Everest Base Camp (5230 m) in Nepal, last October. They have joined with Cans4kili on a mission to positively impact the environment around us, locally and globally.

OUR MISSION Cans4Kili: Climbing for change Through the power of eco funding, Cans4Kili aims to collect and recycle over 1.2 million cans to cover the cost of the trip and reduce our cities’ carbon footprint. Deforestation in Tanzania is removing too many trees from Mt Kili. Tourists and inhabitants alike have polluted the mountain with trash affecting the climate and destroying the current ecosystem of the global icon. In the fall of 2019, 10 travelers from all over the world will be climbing for change. The journey will start by planting indigenous trees at the base of the mountain. They will then proceed to clean the mountain as they descend and research on further actions to be taken to conserve and reforest the green cover in the locality.

Kilmanjaro: India Initiative 2019 India is fast developing into a global powerhouse in many respects and has the most number of youth with 50% of its population under the age of 25. A young impressionable country needs to be inspired to usher in a better tomorrow for us all. Building empathy and understanding of the matters facing our society and planet is important to create a new class of decision makers and problem-solvers of the future. Through mediums of experiential learning and storytelling coupled backgrounds in Technology and Design, we aim to work with our generation to build empathy towards one another and create strong communities around championing our planet’s cause. We are designing an experiential learning kit, inspired from the story of the wind turbine in Antarctica to create knowledge and involve the younger generation in schools. The theme is to create a story/presentation alongside the interactive kit - as an educational initiative, through which we aim to present, to encourage young adults to promote leadership and cultivate the habit of being responsible for our own future.

“create something new each day, to inspire, aspire and grow into a responsible planet for generations to come.”
