Two years into the global pandemic, we look at our closets and evaluate the trendy pieces that were bought solely out of boredom. Something that we can work toward as we make our way into our “new normal” is limiting the purchases that are made impulsively. In the United States, any item of clothing is worn on average seven times before being discarded, which raises the question of how much a trendy purchase is necessary. We can counteract overconsumption and waste by repurposing staple pieces. Instead of giving into microtrends, purchase staple pieces that can be worn with multiple outfits and in many ways. In this anti-trend piece, we show you a couple of different ways in which you can style a basic slip dress, a button-up, a pair of cargo pants, jeans, and a blazer.
