Apart of SANKO group, Süper Film offers high-quality and cost-effective films to the market, according to David Haskins, General Manager Süper Film Europe and based in Luxembourg: “Our new factory in Lüleburgaz, Turkey, will not only increase our production capacity, but also support our ability to export internationally. We want to develop the most effective solutions for our clients, and this expansion will allow us to explore more sustainable and effective options.”
Süper Film exports to more than 48 countries all over the world, spanning across five continents. Founded in 1993, the company has evolved significantly over the years in terms of technology and products.
From the introduction of BOPET film in 2003 to the integration of advanced automation technologies in 2021, Süper Film has always been dedicated to innovation and the continuous improvement of operations.
“Our investments into R&D throughout our time as a company have driven us towards the success we have today,” added Mr Haskins. “We have always been focused on the future and we plan to maintain this approach, improving efficiency and environmental protection standards.”
Expanding capacity
With over 800 employees and two plants, Süper Film runs a complex and sophisticated operation. The company has a seven-layer cast barrier film production line, as well as BOPET film lines, three coating lines and six metallisers. This enables Süper Film to offer a diversified product portfolio that can meet a range of customer needs.
The company is also opening a new factory from which it aims to increase film production to 184,000 tonnes and metallised coating capacity to 50,000 tonnes a year. Not only will this new strategically located factory expand Süper Film’s capabilities in terms of meeting client demands, but it will also grow the company’s global reach and create opportunities to invest in sustainability.

A leading manufacturer of high-quality films for the packaging industry, Süper Film’s vision is to offer innovative and sustainable solutions to customers across the world. market,” explained Sales, Marketing & Export Director Zeynep Yenen. “The expansion will allow us to offer a more attentive and reliable service. Global crises, such as the pandemic, have shown us how important it is to maintain supply chain security.
“Our new location will enable us to supply products to Europe and the Marmara region quickly and cost-effectively, whilst also facilitating global exports due to its proximity to the port.”
Featuring a fourth 10.4m BOPP line and the company’s sixth metallising machine, the factory will play a significant role in Süper Film’s digital transformation. The company has been working to enhance production efficiency and data manage -
ment through technology for the past three years.
In 2023, Süper Film transitioned from an in-house ERP system to a SAP 4 Hana, as well as adding SAP MII and SCADA systems for better operational control. Through this digitalisation, the company has been able to streamline operations and become more efficient. Additionally, Süper Film has planned the deployment of UiPath Process Mining to analyse and optimise business operations further.
“With our increased capacity, we plan to focus on North American and African markets, as well as Europe,” continued Ms Yenen. “Our new facility will use the latest technology with a sustainable approach to environmental and energy
management, bringing us closer to becoming one of the world’s top 10 largest packaging producers.”
Environmental protection
In 2013, Süper Film achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, followed by ISCC certification in 2018. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to quality, environmental protection and safety in operations.
Süper Film believes that responsible production and consumption are both essential factors in running a sustainable operation. As well as incorporating digitalisation and efficient technologies into practices, the company is working to minimise waste and recycle where possible.
Also, Süper Film is using renewable energy in operations and sourcing sustainable materials to limit environmental impacts. Products are designed to have an extended life cycle, contributing to a more circular economy.
“In 2015, we launched our first environmentally friendly product lines, emphasising the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials,” commented Ms Yenen. “Then
in 2020, we continued this focus on sustainability with the introduction of BOPET RCV, incorporating post-consumer recycled materials into production.”
BOPET film acts as an alternative to BOPP labels. Both the Petlain BT 1011 PRS and MRS coded films are made using 50% recycled raw materials, which have been processed through chemical de-polymerisation. They provide 25% higher efficiency than typical 38-micron transparent OPP label films.
“We have been calculating our carbon and water footprints since 2019 and established a sustainable report in 2023, receiving a Silver EcoVadis rating,” added Ms Yenen. “We have achieved a lot in terms of sustainable development and are always looking to improve further. Working with other companies dedicated to environmental protection, such as CEFLEX, BOPET Films Europe, Sedex and NEXTLOOPP, we hope to lead the way towards a more circular industry.”
Evolving innovations
Süper Film has created over 100 recipes with a variety of specialised properties for use in different market applications.
From BOPP, BOPET and CPP to cast barrier, metallised, specially coated, adhesive tape and ALG films, the company offers tailored solutions to meet customer requirements.
“Our ALG films feature innovative algae-based additives, which improve environmental impacts,” said Mr Haskins. “This innovation has won multiple awards for sustainability, most notably our 2011 ALG film which is made from seaweed and has garnered significant recognition.”
The company’s R&D department fosters a culture of innovation, evolving over the years to propel Süper Film as a leader of the sector. The department has many achievements including seven patented products, seven utility models, 20 international awards, 16 national awards and four academic supported projects.
With fast response times, the ability to adapt to customer needs and a flexible approach to market dynamics, Süper Film has positioned itself as a leader in flexible packaging. Building long-term relationships across the industry, the company has been able to collaborate and achieve shared sustainability and growth goals.
“We prioritise transparency and collaboration in our partnerships, which allows us to minimise environmental impacts through the supply chain,” continued Mr Haskins, in conclusion. “All of our partners and our commitment to continuous improvement have significantly contributed to our success.
“We are constantly exploring new technologies and practices in order to enhance our sustainability efforts and respond to industry trends, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation in the packaging sector. Our proactive approach helps us serve customers better and contribute to a more sustainable future.”
