Charlie Veysey Thank you M o m and Dad, I couldn't be here without you. Kinley, Ty, Ryan... need I say more? Too m a n y good times, love you guys. Thank you to everyone, you've allowed m e to grow so m u c h in the last four years. Goodbye Proctor.

"I've been waiting for the time to finally say, has all been great, but now I'm on my way" — Grateful Dead "I'm glad I did it, partly because it was well it, but chiefly because I shall never ever have to do it again." —Mark Twain "A ship in harbour is safe, but that's not what ships are built for." —William Shedd

"To be truly challenging, a voyage, like a life, must rest on a firm foundation offinancial unrest. Otherwise, you are doomed to a routine traverse, the kind, known to yachtsmen who play with their boats at sea... "cruising" it is called. Voyaging belongs to seamen, and to the wanderers of the world who cannot, or will not, fitin. If you are contemplating a voyage and you have the means, abandon the venture until your fortunes change. Only then will you know what the sea is al! about. Little has been said or written about the ways a man may blast himself free. Why? I don't know, unless the answer lies i in our diseased values. A man seldon hesitates to describe his work; he gladly divulges the privacies of alleged sexual conquests. But ask him how much he has in the bank and he recoils into shock and stubborn silence. "I've always wanted to sail to the south seas, but I can't afford it." What these men can't afford is not to go. They are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of "security." And in the worship of security we fling our lives beneath, the wheels of routine - and before we know it our lives are gone. What does a man need - really need? A few pounds offood each day, heat and shelter, six feet to lie down in - and some form of working activity that will yield a sense of accomplishment. That's all- in the material sense, and we know it. But we are brainwashed by our economic system until we end up in a tomb beneath a pyramid of time payments, mortgages, preposterous gadgetry, playthings that divert our attention for the sheer idiocy of the charade. The years thunder by. The dreams ofyouth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on the shelves of patience. Before , we know it, the tomb is sealed. i Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?" —Sterling Hayden

And that, I think, was the handle - -that sense of inevitable v over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sens didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no p infighting - -on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; w riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look We with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark the place where the wavefinallybroke and rolled back. —Hunler S. H m m m . . . I feel as though I need to have some profound ending thoughts so that the Proctor Students of tomorrow can look back on this yearbook and m y page and say, "Wow, those were some profound ending thoughts." H a yeah right. It would be completely inappropriate however not to have some VERY necessary "thank yous" so: Mamasita&Daddy-o: Thank you for your love, support and allowing m e to make the switch to PA. You both m e a n the world to m e and I couldn't have made it through these 5 years of high school without you both. Big Ben,Johan&DBK: M y brothers! M y sista! Thank you for making home, well home. It wouldn't have been the same to go back and not have you guys there tofightwith! Love all 3 of you. NaNa: You made this stage of m y education possible, for that I wi be forever grateful. Your love, energy and enthusiasm are something that I aspire t have at least when I'm 40. You are wonderful thank you! Mike,Sue&Ellen: Let's face it. I would have been a lost cause without you all to kick m y *** over college apps, keep tabs on m y ever fraying sanity, and your never wavering support. I couldn't hav done it without you. Karl: You made m e count down the days until summer was over so I could get back to school for preseason and el futbol! I had two of m y mos fun and favorite soccer seasons under your leadership. You helped make m e a better player whether on thefield, bench or practice. GVS '05: Best soccer season. Hands. Down. The memories and pictures are enough to keep m e laughing and smiling for hours on end. Hardly a day went by where I wasn't wishing 2:45 meant socca time! And m y fellow seniors...AM,MM,BK,KK,ET,LB,ED,JS unstoppable and unmatched. Remember the "Good Times" ladies. All M y PA Teachers Ever: You asked only the best from m e and for me. Thank you.

Kate Lanphier A smile is always a memory To m y parents: Thanks so m u c h for being so supportive of m e in everything I 've done these past eighteen years. You never gave up on me. I don't know what I would have donewithoutyou.Ned:Youhave been such a great big brother from day one. I couldn't ask for a better brother. Liza & Marnie: You are the best sisters a girl could have. I feel so lucky to have you in m y life. I love you both so much. Sue: you have been such a wonderful advisor these past two years and I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me. Thank you Proctor for the great opportunities you have given me, to allow m e to grow and become the person I a m today.

iROCTOH "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. —Jack Kerouac Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them, you reach your destiny. —Carl Schurz One ship drives east and another drives west With the selfsame winds that blow. 'Tis the set of sails and not the gales Which tells us the way to go. —Ella Wheeler Wilcox Ifindthe great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie > at anchor." —Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. Patrick, W e wish you well in your climb to n e w heights. Chapter A 2 MAKE A NOTE THIS PART OF THE STORY! I started out on my no different then the ones I had read aboutIN MY Parents cravel books. I waS on a mission. A mission to save the world. Have you ever heard of whipped cream? Maybe your great-grandmother or great-grandfather talked about it once or twice. Or maybe your grandmother has made from a old family recipe. Or who knows? Maybe you eat it every night at supper! Well anyway, I was on a mission. I can't tell you my name.~i-can*t tell you who I am either. Or my...uh...how do I put this...ah!...no,that wouldn',work.. my...urn...I got it! my gender. But I am old now. Anyway, back to the subject, this was not a mission like you read in your SuperMan comics. It was a mission rid the worl§i f)fcW&MI\ccge§€chers! It might sound silly to you now, but oh! wait till you get into the storiy! I will call myself Captain M. B u t pieaSe don't be confused! Miranda Hickox, the nice girl who has written this story, and has done the nice illistrations, is not Captain M. Happy readings, happy reader. THis wonderful tale willl fill you with sadness, laughter, and most of all the joy of reading. Happy readings (again!), Captain M P.S. MS. Hickox might reavel some things that aren't particul true.

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Laura, You'll alwaysfindthe strength within you. 160

We Love you and admire all that you have accomplished. Love, Dad, Mom, Ned, Liza & Marnie

Eben — You have always exceeded our expectations! Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, humble and gentle in victory. Build me a son whose wishes will not take the place of deeds, a son who will know Thee — and that to know himself is the foundation stone ofknowledge. Lead him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in a storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail. Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past. And after all of these things are his, add, 1 pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he...will never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, and the meekness of true strength. — General Douglas MacArthur

Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it piece by piece—By thought, choice and determination. -John Luther

Chris, W e are so very proud of the person you've become. You are on your way-Enjoy the journey. Love, M o m , Dad & Ryan "2006"
