SUPPLIER INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY
We believe inclusive procurement creates long-term value for our clients and our communities while helping us leverage our buying power for good.
Our Supplier Inclusion & Sustainability Program is global, and drives a more inclusive marketplace. We categorise diverse suppliers as enterprises that support, among others, minorities, women and people with disabilities.
In South Africa, we’re leading the way to supplier inclusion, going above and beyond local regulatory requirements. We understand the value of increasing diverse, inclusive procurement spending in that country, for its far-reaching impact.
In 2021, our procurement spend with black-women-owned enterprises in South Africa increased to nearly 40%, way beyond the requirement of 12%. Our spend with black-owned-SMEs, meanwhile, was 57%, against a target of 30%. Our procurement spend in South Africa with black-owned suppliers increased to 60%, from 47% in the previous year, surpassing the target of 50%.
Our efforts in South Africa also include investing in and cultivating SME suppliers. In 2021, we identified 19 SME’s participating in the Enterprise and Supplier Development Program, and converted six to Accenture suppliers, to further diversify our supply chain.
GLOBAL DIVERSE SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (DSDP)
We are committed to supplier inclusion and diversity, and mentor suppliers across the globe through our intensive 18-month DSDP initiative.
This program matches senior Accenture executives with supplier companies for mentoring. This year we evolved the program by expanding the mentorship pool to include client-mentors, in addition to our Accenture experts. To graduate, DSDP mentees must attend monthly meetings with their mentor/sponsors and participate in online training sessions. They must also complete business health assessments and quarterly progress reports.
Accenture Supplier Inclusion & Sustainability: Be the Champion
In early 2021, we set a new DSDP goal: to graduate 250 suppliers by the end of 2023. By the end of 2021, 196 had graduated, including 19 in South Africa and seven in India.
We have launched the program in Australia, and began our seventh class in the United States.
We have also unveiled the DSDP Sustainability pilot program to help suppliers build their own responsible business models.
Such models help suppliers deliver the right products and services for their customers, and demonstrate their commitment to climate action and human rights.
Our goal is to create a culture of collaborative learning, to drive successes. Each year, we evolve the DSDP program. In 2021, we launched a digital tool to give SMEs easier access to information and opportunities for diverse partners.
Developed by a DSDP graduate in South Africa, the digital ecosystem simplifies interactions between diverse suppliers and businesses to drive growth and sustainability through development and commercial opportunities.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN
Utilising an AI-powered platform can help you map and model a live global view of your business ecosystem
Howwell do you know your suppliers, and can you rely on them to deliver? That’s the dilemma facing millions of businesses in 2022, and one that Interos can help solve.
“If we’re thinking about the new normal, we’re looking at disruption, uncertainty and inflation,” says Jennifer Bisceglie, Founder and CEO of Interos – the company reinventing supply chain management with its AI-powered SaaS platform.
“If organisations do just one thing, they really need to get curious about the extended supply chain. We can’t continue to be surprised. We can’t continue to think about Black Swans. We really have to understand who we’re doing business with and who those companies are doing business with.”
Interos recently published its Resilience 2022 survey which highlighted multiple areas of interest for the global economy. Half of the companies surveyed are looking
at re-shoring or near-shoring – a major movement to add more agility into a supply chain which has proven to be very fragile in the last three years.
“Right now, only around 10% of companies even know who their Tier 2 or Tier 3 suppliers are,” says Bisceglie. “So if I’m thinking about re-shoring or near-shoring, I know just one Tier 1 company that I want to bring closer to me but everybody that they’re reliant on is still a mystery – and that’s really the opportunity here.”
There is not only an opportunity but also a requirement. As the regulatory landscape tightens and evolves, organisations have to stay on top of their supply chain.
The Resilience 2022 survey uncovered that 3 in 4 companies aim to implement technology to better source and gain value from data that’s available in the market. This statistic did not surprise Bisceglie.
Interos: Understanding your Supply Chain
“In a world that is very dynamic – in our business relationships and the continuing redefining of sustainability practises – the only way to ensure that you’re participating in making the world a better place is through the continued mapping and monitoring of your extended supply chain,” she concludes.
If we’re thinking about the new normal, we’re looking at disruption, uncertainty and inflation.
Jennifer Bisceglie Founder and CEO of Interos“There’s a real opportunity to make sure that the companies that you are doing business with are acting in a sustainable fashion, as well as the suppliers to those companies.”
Visit www.interos.ai to ‘see everything, do anything’ using their AI-powered platform that maps and models a live global view of your business ecosystem.

MAKING SUPPLY CHAINS OF TOMORROW MORE TRANSPARENT , SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT
With 2.5 quintillion bytes of data produced every day, how is it that supply chain disruptions—particularly at Tier 2+ suppliers—are still going unreported? This is the question that Dr. Lisa Smith asked herself when embarking on her PhD research at the Technical University of Vienna. Fast-forward through years of research and development, and Prewave was born. A platform that uses AI to find, understand and categorise supply chain risks; we predict supply chain disruptions well in advance.
PREWAVE AT A GLANCE
y Predictive, real-time and historic monitoring
y Access to millions of regional, local and international news and social media sources, as well as publiclyavailable databases, in 50+ languages
y 140+ risk categories
y A 360° supplier score
y Real-time, highly relevant reporting
End-to-end supply chain risk platform
HOW DOES PREWAVE WORK?
Our process follows a logical succession of steps to achieve an unprecedented level of transparency across all supply chain tiers.
We begin with a list of your direct suppliers. With it, we map out your entire supply chain, down to the raw material. Yanfeng is one of the clients that has achieved complete supply chain visibility through this process.
Once every supplier has been identified, an in-depth screening process uncovers past incidents, establishing a risk score for each supplier. We then set up real-time monitoring for more than 140 risk categories. This allows clients like VW and BMW to stay in the know at all times—from rumours of pollution at a Tier 3 supplier to a labour strike at a shipping harbour.
Prewave takes it one step further. Our data enables the monitoring of entire commodity markets. This allows clients, like the beverage giant AbinBev, to get an exact and to-the-minute overview of the entire production side of a commodity, and anticipate shortages and disruptions well ahead of time.
Beyond improving supply chains from an operational and sustainability standpoint, Prewave leverages its technology to offer a one-of-a-kind compliance solution for international supply chain legislation. Audi, BMW and Porsche employ this approach to achieve compliance with the German Supply Chain Act, as well as other international supply chain legislations.
A company that continues to evolve to meet the demands of the market, Prewave is committed to take the platform to the next level, creating a multi-tier supply chain risk solution that covers the full risk lifecycle.

SUPPLIER COLLABORATION, SIMPLIFIED
Accelerate your suppliers’ sustainability journey
THE LOST OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY
When over 80% of your environmental and social impact comes from your supply chain, your brand becomes exposed to a substantial amount of risk. It is therefore a no-brainer that you need to work with your suppliers to mitigate this by reducing emissions, sourcing more responsible, and identifying opportunities to enhance supply chain continuity.
However, CDP research continues to show that most companies still do not engage with their suppliers in a meaningful way. The scale and complexity of the modern supply chain means that working with all of your suppliers across all the materially important issues to retail and consumer packaged goods businesses is incredibly difficult.
Furthermore, the tools that procurement and compliance teams have at their disposal have fallen behind the increasing expectations placed upon them. The consequence is that brands are often limited to working with only their strategic suppliers resulting in countless opportunities and risks missed.
HELPING YOUR SUPPLIER ENGAGEMENT TAKE- OFF
Supply Pilot is an award-winning supplier collaboration platform and consultancy provider. With a mission to transform the way businesses work with their suppliers to build more successful, sustainable brands, Supply Pilot equip teams with the tools to drive supply chain sustainability at pace and scale.
Supply Pilot is trusted by some of the world’s largest brands including: John Lewis, PetSmart, Waitrose, and Walgreens Boots Alliance.
COLLECTING DATA FROM SUPPLIERS
Collecting data that informs your sustainability goals and identifies areas of risk and opportunity can be timeconsuming and frustrating. Supply Pilot’s full-service supplier data collection service achieves +80% response rates within weeks. Co-op leveraged these capabilities to collect 100% of the information needed for their RSPO submission in just 3 weeks.
Exploring the most pressing issues facing brands and their suppliers
Likewise, Woolworths partnered with Supply Pilot to transition 25,000 products to the new Country of Origin labelling system.
SUPPORTING SUPPLIERS THROUGH CHANGE
Once you have committed to a sustainability goal, your focus must shift to working with suppliers to close performance gaps and helping them overcome any technical, economic or organisational barriers.
Supply Pilot’s six-step process provides businesses with a roadmap to accelerate suppliers through their sustainability journeys. When used alongside the Supply Pilot Platform, teams can request data, share information, deliver training, and assign actions across their entire supply base in the most impactful way possible.
Walmart used the Supply Pilot Platform to eliminate 20 million metric tonnes of
GHGs from their global supply chain by engaging over 4,000 suppliers across 13 of their international markets.
In 2021, Supply Pilot worked with another retailer to reignite their sustainable packaging commitment after the pandemic. In addition to collecting packaging data for 6,000 products, it highlighted that most suppliers didn’t have a plan to achieve the retailer’s Plastic Pact commitment, allowing for a realistic and achievable plan to be implemented.
