Let there be Light:
Advent and Christmas for groups in Salisbury.
The Advent and Christmas season gets off to an early start this year with the return of the Cathedral’s amazing light and music extravaganza, Sarum Lights.
Sarum Lights– Renaissance (8-13 November) brings the works of the great masters to life with jawdropping displays and evocative music. From the Botticelli-inspired projection on the West front to an exploration of Da Vinci’s anatomical sketches and a breath-taking celebration of Renaissance art in the Nave, expect light, colour and awe-inspiring displays…
…and don’t leave it too late to book. Tickets go on sale in September and the last Sarum Lights show was a sell-out.
Also set to amaze, the Cathedral’s gigantic 34ft Christmas tree goes in on 7 December. Fabulously decorated with over 1000 fairy lights, this magnificent festive symbol offers a perfect Christmas
photo opportunity, particularly reflected in the font.
Groups Carols return this year (13/14 Dec). Enjoy listening to the Cathedral’s world class choir, sing some of your favourite carols and relax with mulled wine and mince pies in Cloisters afterwards.
Booking is now open.
Finally, the perfect prelude to Christmas! Tickets for the Cathedral’s premier Christmas concert, Handel’s Messiah sung by the Cathedral Choir, accompanied by the renowned City of London Sinfonia, go on sale in September. Early enquiries welcome.
There’s plenty for groups in the city too. Magical light displays, markets and family festive trails. This year’s pantomime at the Playhouse is Cinderella, and when you need to put your feet up Christmas in the Square with its pop-up festive bar, food stalls and grotto is set to bring a winter wonderland to the heart of the city once again.
