Through the profound insights gained from influential works such as "The Power of Now," "The Road to Happiness," "The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World," and "The Art of Noticing," as well as the enlightening positive psychology course at Harvard University, I have discovered the transformative power of focusing on positive clarity. This approach, when compared to solely studying how to alleviate negative emotions, holds the potential to create a lasting positive impact on individuals. Just as setting goals directs our attention towards overcoming negativity, directing our focus towards improving positive emotions can lead to increased positivity in our lives.

While it is important to address negative emotions, I have realized that emotional recovery is an ongoing process rather than a onetime achievement. After experiencing a period of rejuvenation, it is not uncommon for anxiety to resurface, and the knowledge we once absorbed may fade away. This understanding has emphasized the need for constant stimulation and effort to maintain a positive state. I have come to recognize that this approach requires continuous dedication rather than a quick fix.

Despite these realizations, my commitment to prioritizing positive emotions remains unwavering. I understand that the path to emotional well-being demands active engagement and an open mindset. Consequently, I have embarked on a personal journey of actively experiencing and exploring various techniques to enhance positive emotions.

I also explored other different ways to help increase positive emotions

Psychological counseling is a professional service that helps individuals address psychological issues, enhance mental well-being, and improve their quality of life through active listening and support. Limitations of psychological counseling include high costs and potential feelings of shame or embarrassment experienced by the clients.

Art therapy is a therapeutic approach in the field of mental health that uses art creation and expression to help individuals explore emotions, reduce stress, enhance selfawareness, and promote overall well-being. However, it has limitations. Art therapy requires some art skills or experience, which may make individuals without an art background or familiarity with art media feel uncomfortable.

Meditation is a practice that involves focusing one's attention and achieving a calm and relaxed state of mind. It promotes mindfulness, stress reduction, and overall well-being. However, it also has limitations. For instance, studies suggest that around 43% of people practicing meditation may experience drowsiness and fall asleep during the process.

Natural therapy is a comprehensive healing approach that utilizes natural elements such as herbal medicine, massage, acupuncture, and yoga. It emphasizes the balance of body, mind, and spirit and harnesses the healing power of nature. However, it requires ongoing commitment and investment of both time and money. Regular sessions or treatments may be necessary for desired results, and some natural therapies can be costly.

Is there a more and sustainable increase more

Before joining SVA, I had the opportunity to watch Ingrid's inspiring TED talk on Joy. It left a lasting impression on me. As I interviewed her and delved deeper into the concept, the power of design to bring happiness became increasingly clear. The idea that design has the ability to positively impact people's lives and evoke joy resonated deeply with me. It was a turning point where I realized the transformative potential of design and the importance of creating meaningful experiences that bring happiness to others.

In addition, I came across another research paper titled "Faces of Product Pleasure: 25 Positive Emotions in Human-Product Interactions" by Pieter

M.

A. Desmet from Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft, The Netherlands. This paper delves into the potential and effectiveness of using products for emotional intervention. The research findings highlight how specific design elements and functionalities can influence people's emotional states through sensory stimuli such as touch, vision, and sound. The study emphasizes that this form of emotional intervention design plays a crucial role in emotional regulation, stress relief, and enhancing overall well-being. These insights serve as valuable guidance for designers and researchers in developing more effective products for emotional intervention. By leveraging the power of design, we can create products that not only fulfill functional needs but also evoke positive emotions, ultimately contributing to a greater sense of happiness and well-being in people's lives.

A more accessible and sustainable way

Relying solely on theoretical knowledge has its limitations, as it tends to fade from memory over time. Additionally, other healing modalities often demand continuous engagement, significant mental and financial resources, and lack universal applicability. So, how can we effortlessly and frequently infuse more positive emotions into our daily lives? One solution lies in designing products as emotional intervention tools that subtly uplift our joy throughout our daily experiences. Rather than waiting until we experience genuine pain, these everyday products serve as a suitable long-term "remedy." By incorporating intuitive design, we have the opportunity to continuously enhance our positive emotions in a seamless and natural way. For instance, adopting the Pomodoro technique can be made more convenient and simple with a real intervention tool like a dedicated Pomodoro timer. Let's actively cultivate positivity and joy without excessive effort or conscious intervention.
