MOBILE MEDITIATION UNIT Shambhala Meditiation Center third year studio 4 week project Closed Rendering
The Mobile Meditation Unit is a project that focuses on compact ability and lightness. With the capacity to start as a tight compact unit for the ease of transportation to a larger more open unit that creates different and unique spaces for different activities. The Mobile Meditation Unit design is based on the concept of dissolving away the solid. The dense and heavy compacted solid is how the unit is transported to its designation. When it reaches it location it can then be hinged open into a new form with much striation in it giving it the sense that it has been dissolved away. The design is highly based off the manipulation of light. The first form of the object gives the person a sense of darkness since it is highly tight and compacted. When it opens a person experiences a whole new sensation. With light being able to pass through in some areas it gives people a feel of being open and spacious.

CONTEMPLATIVE FOOD HUB Connecting South Columbus third year studio 8 week project
The Contemplative Food Hub is a project that focuses on connecting South Columbus and making the area stronger as a whole. The area near Reeb Avenue has been working on recreating what Southern Columbus once was by giving it a new image. The Contemplative Food Hub was designed to give Southern Columbus that brand new image. With the Food Hub’s green roof connecting the two sides of Reeb Avenue, the Food Hub would bring the two together. The design of the Food Hub was to create a green space for people to gather and do activities since there was a lack of park spaces in the area. The concept of the design was to peel up the ground and apply program underneath so it would not disturb the are below.

Giving to the City Southern Columbus is a metropolitan area that has been declining in the past few years. The area become gray and had little room for people to gather. The Contemplative Food Hub’s green roof gave people that green space by taking the ground it was designed on and placing it above the program of the building.

A NEW HOME FOR JEFF Commpetition Project Systems 2 week project
The New Home for Jeff project was a competition that was held for Systems to see who could come up with the best design for Jeff putting the knowledge of the course into the most aesthetic design. The concept behind this design was the use of the material to create the aesthetic. On the exterior cladding of the building lighter color sandstone would be used and the interior would consist of a darker sandstone. Since Jeff is a fossil, the design was to mimic the discovery of the fossil. The light sandstone is the representing the earth tone color on the surface and the interior is representing the darker colors found within the Earth.
