Is it just another “trendy” word to throw around? No, it is not the popular word of the day but rather an all-inclusive internet application with Technology as its foundation. Metaverse enables the connection and integration of the real and virtual worlds. The growth of the Metaverse concept, and its impact on philosophy, culture, society, and economic governance, as well as human beings, are unknown.
The Metaverse is based on the convergence of technologies that enable multi-sensory interactions with virtual environments, digital objects and people such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Exponential Technology is the type of technology that grows at an exponential rate. It does this through Conversion which is one technology interacting with another technology. The reason they become exponential is that costs come down creating more opportunities for more growth. Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things are all technologies that are growing at exponential rates. Individually they are dynamic but converging with each other they produce a power never seen before or imagined possible.
The Metaverse is a parallel universe created in the virtual world, it is also an expansion of Digital Twins in the field of people and society. The visualization and interaction of the virtual world are realized through Virtual Reality which often lacks dynamics and intelligence. Enter the Internet of Things which makes predictions using artificial intelligence thus synchronizing data in real-time. Digital Twins Technology has integrated with emerging technologies. A digital twin can be coupled with data analytics and spatial intelligence graphs that capture interaction and communications between people, physical equipment, sensors, and devices to bring out the best possible space, research, and business insights.

Cybersecurity The Metaverse is a virtual world that connects everyone. Everyone has a virtual identity and can do anything desired. This includes bad actors and cybersecurity intruders. It has been documented that Humans are the weakest link in the cybersecurity defense chain. Insider threat incidents cost corporations billions of dollars annually. Yet cyber defenders are still reactive and slow to respond. We will now be faced not only with malicious hackers but those who now have a digital twin. To say that we are unprepared for this is a gross understatement. Whoa! so real, it’s unreal! Something’s happening here - what it is, I’m not exactly sure!
Brain-Computer Interfaces have been studied over the last few decades. The brain our most complicated human organ has similarities to a complex computer, which we have never been able to recreate and simulate successfully. Global scientists are contributing to the development of tools and methods for brain signal acquisition and processing.

In brief, the Brain-computer interface (BCI), also known as the brainmachine interface (BMI), is a system that enables humans to interact with their surroundings via employing control signals generated from electroencephalographic (EEG) activity, without the intervention of peripheral nerves and muscles (https://doi.org/10.3390/brainsci11 010043). Brain-computer interfaces enable communication with computing devices exclusively through brain activity. Elon Musk’s implant company Neuralink is working on enabling brains to connect and communicate with computers. So far the testing has been limited to implanting monkeys with computer chips. Meanwhile “The EurAsian Times” has reported that Chinese researchers are claiming a breakthrough in BCI technologies with the ability to control and interact with electromagnetic waves via brainwaves remotely (July 1, 2022).

The Eurasian Times reported that in March, a team of Chinese researchers performed an experiment at the China Astronauts Research and Training Centre in Beijing on a headmounted device that could allow astronauts to control robotic equipment using their brainwaves. If you think the Metaverse was just a pipe dream, think again.
It’s a reality. Computers who write essays about themselves and ask for lawyers! In case you haven’t noticed it’s heating up out there! The Sciences Times (Jun 25, 2022) reported on an artificial (AI) chatbot in Google that has reportedly developed human emotions, opinions, and ideas and has decided to hire a lawyer. The Google scientific engineer was placed on administrative leave after publishing transcripts of his conversations with the sentient AI bot LaMDA, short for language model for dialogue application. We have always wanted to make human-like robots - have we now succeeded? But perhaps they are too human!
In 2017, The Jakarta Post reported on “Sophia: the first robot declared a citizen by Saudi Arabia”. In another development, a Sweden Researcher gave the AI algorithm GPT-3 instructions to write a research paper which GPT-3 complied and wrote a paper about itself in two hours.
