STEM Early College High School student La Joya senior wins state championship heading to MIT in Prose Interpretation

After putting in years of hard work, Derek Jesus Garcia is on his way to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall. A senior at Thelma R. Salinas STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Early College High School, Garcia spent his time in high school balancing academics, athletics and various extracurricular activities. He will be graduating with an associate’s degree in Mathematics. Garcia made the interesting decision to apply to MIT early decision and Rice University early action. After getting accepted to both, he felt more inclined toward MIT, and the financial aid package MIT offered was

Juarez-Lincoln High School senior makes All-State Choir for first time in school history

Setting a goal for yourself that no one else at your school has ever accomplished is an incredible challenge. For Priscilla Valencia, it was what she always dreamed about. “I always wanted my name to be the first one on the empty All-State Choir plaque that hangs at the entrance of my choir room,” Valencia said. “I worked hard for 4 years, each time getting closer, and closer – until I finally made it!” A senior choir member at La Joya Juarez-Lincoln, Valencia’s journey to state started back in September with District auditions, where only 20 advanced to Regionals

Brianna Robles, graduating from Palmview High School this year, will be attending Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. The school is known for creating Olympic runners for the United States. Robles qualified for state this year. Robles, last year’s All Valley Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year, qualified for state in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs just as she did last year. While her sixth place finishes in both events this year were an improvement over her two eighth place finishes last year, Robles couldn’t help being disappointed in the fact that she fell short of her goal of adding two state medals to her extensive collection of District, Area and Regional medals. “I was mostly disappointed by the fact that I ran the same times as I did last year,”

La Joya High School Senior Eddie Barrera received 1st place in the Nobelity Social Impact Award category and 2nd place in the State Finals during this year’s UIL State Film Festival, which took place on Feb. 28, 2018, at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. Barrera’s documentary titled “33rd Annual Helping Hands of Hope” tells the story of the widely known holiday gift drive initiated by the National Honor Society chapter at La Joya High School. The film shows the process and execution of the drive by students and staff and how it impacts the community. The UIL Film Festival began five years ago, and this is the first time La Joya ISD has ever had anyone make it to the finals. As a 4-year Audio Visual Technology student, and after careful consideration, Barrera decided that his documentary would highlight the Helping Hands of Hope needy drive. The film depicts the efforts and emo-

Oscar Andres Salinas, a senior at La Joya High School, recently won first place in the University Interscholastic League State Championship in Prose Interpretation. This is the first time a student from the La Joya Independent School District has won this award. Salinas, who plans on attending the University of Texas at Austin to study theatre this fall, credits the whole team for advancing far in the competition. “It’s never just me and my coach, it’s everyone,” Salinas said. “We were all in that room, all the time, practicing to make each other better. We were competing against each other, but no matter what, we were in that room critiquing each other because we wanted the best for each other.” Theatre was his main focus throughout high school, but Salinas also enjoyed band, UIL and mariachi at La Joya High School.

The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on our many accomplishments and successes as a district. It is also a special moment of bittersweet transition – as our seniors end their time at La Joya ISD and graduate from high school. As we embark upon the last few days with one another, it has caused me to spend some significant time reflecting on your educational experience, your future endeavors, and the district’s role in both of these. Your hard work over the the last thirteen years culminates with your graduation from high school, marking the end of your time with this wonderful network of teachers, mentors, and friends who have taught you, guided you in the most important of times, and shared moments and memories with you that have shaped your Dr. Alda T. Benavides lives. This shared journey of commitment, dedication, and growth, which has prepared you on your journey, will now test and challenge you as you prepare to continue the rest of your journey. Many adventures await you, and I have faith that each of you will make the right choices and decisions as you seek to leave your mark on this world. It is my hope that you leave La Joya ISD prepared and ready to participate in a democracy, positively improve our community, enter the workforce or extend your education. But most importantly, I hope that you are leaving La Joya ISD fulfilled, connected and thriving. It has been my greatest pleasure watching each and every one of you grow, learn, and mature into caring, loving, and amazing individuals. There is no doubt in my mind that you will accomplish great things, change lives, and come back to our community to share your own experiences and successes—inspiring our next generation of graduates. I hope you will cherish these words of wisdom, which will help guide you on your journey, in the words of Dr. Seuss: Never stop learning: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Continue to be passionate about all you do: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” And lastly, always follow your dreams, because anything is possible: “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” On Behalf of our Board of Trustees, and Administration we are profoundly proud of every single accomplishment and achievement you have attained throughout your academic journey and wish only the BEST in your future. I cannot wait to see all that you will achieve as young adults, leaders, and members of our great La Joya ISD community! We will eagerly await to hear about all you will achieve and contribute to the success of our La Joya ISD community in the future.

For Leslie Valeria Canales Gonzalez, the accomplishment of winning a $5,000 scholarship was incredibly rewarding for her and her family. Gonzalez, a senior at Thelma R. Salinas STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Early College High School, was recently awarded the Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic (RGV LEAD) Scholarship. When she graduates, she will be the only RGV LEAD Scholar in the Valley. She plans on attending the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and will be entering with an associate’s degree in Information Technology with an emphasis in Computer Programming already in hand. Gonzalez credits her campus and teachers for preparing her for college and helping her get the RGV LEAD scholarship. “I started the application with hopes, and

The valedictorian of Palmview High School, Caroline Cerda, is the daughter of Mr. Fernando and JoAnn Cerda. She will be attending the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she will be majoring in Business Marketing and Finance. Throughout her time in high school, she has participated in the varsity girls golf team, DECA, Student Council, and AVID. In addition, she has earned two industry certificates in Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint. Cerda’s parents have taught her that the world is full of endless opportunities and no matter how hard things get, anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

In addition to her parents, she credits her success to her English teacher, Mara Castillo, who she said does more than what a teacher is expected to do. Leaving middle school being ranked number one and graduating high school as valedictorian has been an accomplished Cerda is proud to say she has worked hard for throughout the years. Oziel Rangel, the salutatorian, is the son of Yolanda Rangel and the late Juan Rangel. Rangel will be attending the University of Texas at Austin to study Computer Engineering. He will be the first in his family to go away for college and the first graduate with a degree.

Rangel has been fortunate enough to be top three in his class and credits his freshman teacher. Since the first day of class, that teacher has introduced him to UIL, as a result, Rangel has made the closest friends he’s ever had and found an outlet and a pivotal source of advice. This teacher has made extensive contributions to his future that he did not believe he could experience from someone. This teacher has encouraged him and spurred on Rangel the most. Many state they partake in organizations to fill their resume, but according to Gonzalez, she does it to fill

her character. Yvianna’s accomplishments are only the beginning, she strives to one day become a neurosurgeon and will begin her path by attending the University of Texas at Austin this coming fall. Yvianna Lugo stands as an individual driven by her passions and dedicated to help others—there is no telling what Yvianna will accomplish next as she pursues

a higher education. Erik Cruz- son of Grisehida and Candelario Cruzwas inspired to work hard in school by his parents. The Thelma R. Salinas STEM Early College High School valedictorian, Derek Garcia, is the son of Atemio and Ivonne Garcia. Growing up in the Valley with a modern-thinking family, allowed Garcia to expand his knowledge with a variety of TV shows and video games. His two brothers and loving parents supported his lifestyle of learning. Garcia said he was able to comprehend exactly what he wanted to do with his life at a young age. According to him, being glued to a screen had its benefits. Garcia was involved in cross-country, track, folklorico, and several University Interscholastic League activ-

ities. Garcia chose Salinas STEM ECHS to take on the district’s difficult academic task of acquiring a STEM associate’s degree. Through the balance of academics and several extracurriculars, Garcia got to travel the around the nation. Weekends and family time often had to be sacrificed, but his determination kept him busy. Palmview High School mariachi groups Palmview High School graduates play at nation’s capitol Commencement Ceremony In early January, the La Joya Palmview High School mariachi director received notice of a special invitation to participate in this year’s National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. Both Grupo Folklorico Ozomatli and Mariachi Los Lobos, were nominated by Congressman Vicente Gonzalez and the American Veterans Center to perform at the May 28th event and be the official representatives of the state of Texas. “It’s unbelievable that for the second time, our students get selected to perform at the national level,” stated Mayra Garcia, Music Director at LJ Palmview High School. “Our first experience as participants (in former President Barack Obama’s inaugural parade) was amazing, and we look forward to taking this opportunity now to once again showcase the talent of La Joya ISD at our nation’s capital.” Since the announcement of their invitation, the organizations have been working hard and fundraising to cover trip expenses. They accepted donations from local

businesses and those in the community who were able to help. The National Memorial Day Parade will take place on Historic Constitution Avenue before a street audience of several hundred thousand spectators. It will consist of musical ensembles from each branch of the military, invited bands from every state in America, veterans groups, military and specialty units, floats and VIPs. “I’m so excited and proud to have been chosen to rep-

resent our state,” folklorico principal dancer Alan Zarate said. “But I’m even more thrilled to represent my culture.” The parade is broadcast annually on the Discovery’s Military Channel and worldwide to American troops on the Pentagon Channel. Congratulations to the 2 organizations who will have an opportunity to honor America’s war heroes at such a prestigious and reputable event.

But she said, ‘You know what, I know this is going to be something good for you, and I don’t want you to miss this opportunity to

go beyond,’ and she gave me her blessing.” Cruz is looking forward to meeting new people and branching out at Johns Hopkins. He encourages students in high school to talk to their teachers. “Most of them can give you great advice,” Cruz said. “Don’t be afraid to talk to your teachers. Be open with them once in a while, and ask for help. It’s not bad to ask for help.”

DEREK JESUS GARCIA better than that of Rice, making the decision easier. “I really wanted to go to MIT,” Garcia said. “Because, if not, I’ll really regret it.” Garcia enjoyed his senior year, because he spent his sophomore and junior years incredibly overworked. After deciding on his career path, he realized he was able to take things a bit easier his senior year. “I had double maths and double sciences,” Garcia said. “I was truly getting everything that La Joya offered.” Preferring to stay involved, Garcia ran track and cross country his freshman and sophomore year, and throughout his high school career he participated in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Number Sense, Math and Science categories, First Robotics, chess, served as National Honor Society Vice President, Prom Chair and the Science National Society. He said he was able to have an entire “senior year” experience, by taking classes both at STEM ECHS and

from pg. 1B La Joya High School, where he took various Advanced Placement classes not offered at Salinas ECHS. “I was balancing the college aspect and the high school aspect,” Garcia said. “So now, dropping the high school aspect, I’m pretty sure I’ll be well prepared.” Majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Garcia hopes to one day work in the tech industry, perhaps with Intel. He grew up fascinated with the subject, and when he was younger he spent time buying various parts and building computers. “I grew up watching videos of building computers,” Garcia said. “Freshman year I got to build my first computer, and I got to build computers for my close friends. I want to work in the industry of hardware.” Continuing on his path toward higher education, Garcia has several plans for the summer. Because everyone who attends MIT must be able to swim in order to graduate, Garcia plans on spending a lot of time this summer

BRIANNA ROBLES Robles said. “I really wanted to PR (set a new personal record) but when I didn’t I was disappointed.” Robles’ time of 10:54.68 in the 3,200 meter run was five seconds slower than her PR of 10:49, and her time of 5:00.01 in the 1,600 meter run was two seconds slower than her PR of 4:58. However, even if Robles had matched her PRs in both events, she would not have medaled. She would’ve had to have run a 10:35.84 or better in the 3,200 meter run and a 4:54.45 or better in the 1,600 meter run to have

He said that while many people told him it wasn’t going to work, he knew he could push himself even harder this year. “So many people told me, ‘it’s not going to work, no one is going to understand what you’re trying to get across,’” Salinas said. “I

at La Joya’s new natatorium learning how. Garcia has also been accepted to work for 20 days in July at a science institute with Google, at MIT. He will be spending his time there getting to know more MIT students and gain more experience in programming. “I’ll be programming three languages,” Garcia said. “It’ll be at Cambridge, Massachusetts, which is MIT, so I’ll get to meet a lot of people there.” Garcia is grateful to his family and friends for their support throughout his time in high school. He encouraged current students to get everything prepared for college applications early. “Aspire to your dreams,” Garcia said. “I had a lot of people say ‘Do you really think you’ll get into MIT? Why are you applying?’ and I said, the worst they can say is no. And now I’m here making big decisions and changing my life quite dramatically. Aspire to be whatever you want.” from pg. 1B

medaled. Measuring in at 5 feet tall and weighing only 89 pounds, Robles is not your typical looking athlete. However, the fact that she is one of the top high school distance runners in the state has made it possible for her to receive a scholarship to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado where she plans on studying communication in hopes of becoming a sports journalist. With her high school running career now behind her, Robles reflected back on what her favorite moment as

a Lady Lobo was when she said, “Making it to state in cross-country with all of my team. We did that this school year.” As for what it’s meant to her to be a member of the Lady Lobos cross-country and track and field teams for the past four years and to be able to represent Palmview High school at the state meet like she has, Robles said, “It means a lot to me. It also goes to prove that if you put in the effort, it will pay off in the end.”

I hope to be an example for others that achieving goals is definitely possible.” Over 27,000 choir students from across Texas schools begin the audition process in early fall to make it to the TMEA state level. This year, Valencia was the only student from La Joya ISD and the first in LJ Juarez-Lincoln HS history to earn this award. Valencia traveled to the TMEA state convention on February 14th-17th in San Antonio, where she met and rehearsed with the other 199 students who together com-

prise the All-State Mixed Choir. The group performed for an audience of over 10,000 music educators, parents, and family. “I’m most excited about coming back to Juarez-Lincoln HS 40 years from now, and seeing my name at the top of the All-State plaque,” 5 Priscilla added. page “And I’m especially proud to be the first in my school’s history to make it to the state choir.” Congratulations to Priscilla and her family on her phenomenal accomplishment and for putting La Joya ISD and the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies on the map.

Jimmy Carter HS Valedictorian Message

I am a female, first-generation college student of Mexican-American descent who was raised in poor neighborhoods surrounded by drugs, violence, and stigmatization because of my sex, age, race and color of my skin. Statistically speaking, it is nearly impossible for me to be standing here before you today. Yet, that is what we have done as a class—we refrained from becoming another lost cause consumed by our surroundings and expectations. We have not been defined by statistics, but

instead we wrote our own when over 75 percent of us obtained our Associate Degree before our high school diploma. After completing four years together, we leave today knowing we will continue to be represented the way we want as long as we are striving with the same attitude and perspective we’ve gained at Carter. To the class of 2018, I may not have the wisdom or have inspirational one liners, yet I would like to say to you, you are very resilient individuals. Do not let others dictate your choices, demonstrate

your pride, and I wish you all to continue doing your best as you embark in your future careers and life. So, I tell you graduating class: do not be defined by other’s perspective of you, but only your own, you make yourself what you want to be, as they say, “You do you.” Don’t go into this world believing you have to confine to what you believe is expected, seek discomfort, seek to define expectations, seek to what you know is right for you. Thank you.

Juarez-Lincoln HS Valedictorian Message To my fellow graduates, may you fail and have your dreams be crushed. This might sound like a harsh statement, but I mean well. In order for someone to succeed at anything you must overcome obstacles. Life is going to hand each and every one of us the worst of situations and I would be a hypocrite if I said that life is going to be easy. There is nothing wrong with being a dreamer or “reaching for the stars”. But, understand

you are going to fail. And it’s okay to fail. I have seen that the one attribute the graduates of 2018 possess is their perseverance. With that same mentality and attitude you’ll be able to get through anything. As you all come to be adults in the workforce, respected individuals in your professions, or even parents, you are going to be grateful for all your failures because it will lead you to your greatest successes. That success can only be determined by

yourself and you will choose what path you take. I just hope it’s the right one. Or the left. Regardless, whichever path you take do not forget where you first began. As you venture off into the real world, always remember those people who helped you get back on your feet and those that watched you fall. To the class of 2018, I congratulate you on passing this important mark in your life, and may you continue on to finish the rest of the race.

La Joya HS Valedictorian Message Fellow graduates of La Joya High School’s Class of 2018, I’m so excited to receive our diplomas together in a few weeks. As we walk that stage all of our hard work trails behind us like a fog of accomplishment. We are destined for excellence, but in order to achieve that we must acknowledge just how important our contribution to the world is. The future will constantly try to intimidate every single one of us. However, it only does it out of fear, for it knows it will eventually be overrun by our innovations.

A wise individual once said “life is too short to start your day with broken pieces of yesterday. It will definitely destroy you. It will destroy your wonderful today and your great tomorrow.” Never dwell on a situation that will be insignificant in years to come. Your time is far more precious than that. These past four years have been filled with laughter, tears, and smiles. We got a taste of everything for the best. Our mental strength grew a backbone most of us aren’t aware is even there. Being emotionally exhaust-

ed at most stressful times showed us that we can and will always prevail when faced with pressure. After all applying pressure only leads to the creation of a diamond. We have been given a foundation that forever support us. These next years will be a series of discoveries, and we are ready to explore. Always remember that this is all possible because of the time we shared at La Joya High School, Home of the Mighty Coyotes.

Palmview High School Valedictorian “Throughout our time at Palmview High School, we all have gone through many experiences, good and bad, together and alone. We have made new friendships and new relationships, gone through heartthrobs and heartbreaks. There have even been times when many of us have been lost or confused in certain situations, but with the help of our peers, we have always been able to overcome anything. We have been together for the past four years of our lives and we are finally here.

If you stop to think about it, we have spent more time with one another than we do with our own families. For some of us, high school was where we first met, but for many of us, high school was just a continuation of life-long friendships. We look back at all the memories we have created with one another and can’t help but be glad for everything that has taken place and led us to where we are today. We have accomplished great things so far, and I have no doubt we will continue to

do so after our high school years have come to an end. A lot of people say that graduation is the end of the best years of our lives, but in reality, it is only the beginning of something much greater. As Michael Dell once said, “As you start your journey, the first thing you should do is throw away that store bought map and begin to draw your own.” Congratulations Class of 2018, let our new journeys begin.”

STEM HS Valedictorian Message Our fourteen years of schooling are coming to a close in which we will finally decide what to do with our lives. Let us all admit that this is a frightening point in our lives, however time will never halt for any of us, let alone the universe. Therefore, keep on progressing in your dreams just as quick as the light reflecting off this paper. Do not fret when encountering failure; she is inevitable. Instead of breaking down at the moment of en-

countering her, take a good look at why she came up. What possible errors did we make in order to summon an experience that causes most to have a dramatic break down and fuel to work harder than ever before? Make sure to be rebellious when someone tells you what you are capable of-whether it’s an overstatement or understatement. By listening to others’ perception of yourself, confidence will either ascend or plummet. Such deceptive words will cause

confidence to de-evolve into cockiness or uncertainty. All seriousness aside, let us enjoy what adulthood is offering us. Welcome it with open arms, and run away from it when it is asking for too much. Never stay still in our new chapter that will harden us into humans we are to be and always give thanks to the fires that forged us. Finally, watch Youtube videos at 1.5x speed, it saves lots of time and is audible.

Farewell Class of 2018 LJISD Senior Class Presidents

La Joya High School

Dear Class of 2018, Our time as high school students is quickly coming to an end. It feels like just yesterday we were stepping into La Joya High School for the first time. However, what we thought would take forever to arrive, is now only weeks away. We have spent the last four years not only growing as individuals but with each other as well. We have made friendships and memories that will last forever. With each day that passes by, we are finalizing the chapter of our high school

It’s been a ride. Right off the bat we were thrown into the fire with college classes during our freshmen year. Then there was the ease of transition of sophomore year, followed by the steep difficulty curve of junior year. After surviving the unexpected challenge and pressure of senior year, it’s all over; all

career. Soon we will leave La Joya High School behind to begin our new journey in, “the real world,” this new chapter is surreal. This inevitable moment couldn’t have come any slower, in only a couple of short weeks we will be at the State Farm Arena walking the stage and receiving our diplomas. It is also the last time we will all be together in one room. Time waits for no one, with the time we have left we must continue to create memories that will last us a lifetime. We owe all our success to the sup-

port of our families, friends, and educators. I wish nothing but the best in all your future endeavors. All of us have the power to change the world, I implore you to do so. Never forget: once a coyote, always a coyote. PURO COYOTE!

-Alyssa Ramos

As the year comes to an end it gives us time to reflect on the past four years and the choices we’ve made, the clubs we’ve joined and the friendships we’ve created. When we look back at our years as seniors, we won’t remember the nights we stayed up studying or the restless days in class. We will remember Friday night lights under the stadium, homecoming and prom. The goal isn’t to live forever, but to create memories that will. It’s funny how we all start from the same begin-

the sacrifices made have paid off. No more J.C being the Hero we need, asking boss to fix our schedule, Bridget and Edith laughing being heard from the union, Juan talking really good Spanish, heart attacks from being called to Mr. Rodriguez’s office, or Mrs. Garcia helping us get our stuff together and assigning class-

es. No more of Ms. Altamira’s sweet yet very sharp passive aggressive jokes, no more of Mr. Guajardo making us feel like we’re going to be in debt forever, or asking each other how we did on Ms. Luna’s tests. I wish I could mention every teacher in this letter. Never will there be a high school that even comes close to the

Jimmy Carter High School The senior class of seventy-five students can only be amazed by the accomplishments we have fulfilled in our time at Jimmy Carter. I won’t lie when I say that we perfected one of the most important qualities one needs for life: adaptability. Changes in lessons, programs, teachers, and administration placed certain challenges on us; however, united we overcome them all, adapting every year and supporting one another, pushing the class forward. We united as a cohort, defining ourselves by our class as well as by our friends. We

Palmview High School

surpassed the expectations of our teachers, made change in our community and, most importantly, organized ourselves to become a formidable voice of the school. We didn’t allow changes or previous failures to hinder our education, rather strived on the difficulties. We knew of the challenges when we applied to Jimmy Carter but are happy with the results. The majority of us are about to graduate with both a high school and college degree, with sixty college hours pushing us ahead of our families’ expectations. We all

saw the peak of the mountain of progress, and so we climbed together, getting bruises and cuts along the way but nevertheless reaching the summit with a high head and admiration of our peers. We reached that summit as a cohort, as friends, as family. We adapted. We changed. We made it!

quality of teachers and staff here. The people here care and it’s been such a blessing to us. Everyone whether it be Ms. Garcia, Ms. Altamira, Mr. Farias, have played a role. Their roles gave us the opportunities we were presented with. We spent a lot of time staying up, waiting last minute to complete assignmentsbecause

nings but don’t know where we will end up. Our high school years are coming to an end. Welcome to this scary ride with a destination unknown, hopefully filled of wonderful adventures. Just remember, give everything your best effort and it will all work out in the end when your hard work pays off. Our four years in high school were spent building close and memorable connections with friends that will last a lifetime. I hope to see everyone fulfill their respective dreams and ambi-

tions, and hopefully see you later on in life. So, this is it - the very last weeks of the life we’ve grown so comfortable with. Thank you high school for allowing us to keep all the great memories while still moving forward in our lives, ready to change the world.

we didn’t like doing thing slip by. Go Timwork, studying and berwolves! wondering how on Earth the info would stick, and having anxiety on what would be on our exams. The best students and staff are her at STEM. We can only go up from here. Tell everyone thank you before you go. Juniors, you’re up next. Underclassmen, -Johnny Garcia enjoy it don’t let any-

Juarez- Lincoln High School We entered high school four years ago, and it is surprising how we have grown physically and mentally. Those 14, 15-year-old kids have matured, well at least some of us have. Who would have thought that our journey through high school would pass by so fast and reach the end? Thanks to our teachers and administrators who have opened horizons and given us the opportunity to develop our minds and reach our capacity and take advantage of all the resources this world has to offer. Over the course of the next few years, we will continue to grow aca-

demically, personally and professionally. Crossing the stage for graduation will be nothing but a memory, along with our experiences that marked our life throughout these past years. The following chapter of our life will include new memories, new friendships and new decisions as we take our own and different paths in life. We will face difficulties that I am confident we will overcome. In all earnestness, we have grown into a group of sharp individuals, who made the most of the past four years to develop into the people we have become. I am ab-

solutely proud of the class of 2018 for being so diverse, from the way that our top 25 are made up of intellectuals, athletes, and artists, to every graduate who is exceptional in their unique way. I want to wish each and every one of you all the best of luck and congratulations. We are the Juarez-Lincoln High School Class of 2018!
