Project Gecko and their Czech partner HardTask are teaming up to bring you another unique one of a kind training opportunity in Europe – the Air Assault course. The course focuses on teaching the use of helicopter fast ropes techniques and deploying the team from a helicopter.
The idea behind the course came after realizing that there are not enough schools to teach this certain unique capability to different units or organizations around Europe. By organizations we mean anything from SAR, military, police or even civilian groups.

The course goal is to give you the ability to deploy and work closely with air assets such as helicopters. You will go through how to exit, enter or deploy your team, you will get to marshal & direct an helicopter pilot, secure LZ´s and of course fast rope. And much more.
You, the student, will be exposed to a wide spectrum of knowledge and capabilities of which you will become proficient with. It is also important to remark that the instructors staff is certified and experienced for this activity and have the required field experience to not only teach, but also to pass on to you. This course is lead by a group of certified instructors from several professional backgrounds such as military SF & LEOs with over 20 years of field experience.
The instructor staff of this course was assembled in according to our highest standards to ensure the students safety and educational progress. All of the instructors are experienced in working in high altitudes & with air assets. It is also important to remark that all of the instructors are qualified first responders \ paramedics.

TRAINING MODULES Module 01 – Theory. Theoretical lessons in classrom. The focus is about aerial assets and its utilization in hostile environments for the purpose of SAR, humanitarian aid or tactical deployment of assets.

This module sets focus on: • • • •
Safety considerations – in, around & on approch to rotary wing aircraft. Understanding the limitations or advantages of the rotary-wing aircraft. familiarization with several infil methods, why & when. Landing zone – Considerations, setup & planing.
Module 02 – Fast roping. The Fast roping module will be divided into two parts over 2 days. Day 01 – Classroom – Climbing hall
• Theory – introduction to the rope master. The rope master will introduce the student to the principles of fast roping, and the equipment that is involved. • Rope work– The student will learn the correct way to interact with the rope. Reaching, exit, breaking, landing, reaching, etc. • Fast rope tower - The first practical training with the rope. The students will start to practice fast roping. We will start first at 3 meters, continue to 5 and eventually practice with 13 meters.

Module 02 – Fast roping (continue) The Fast roping module will be divided into two parts over 2 days.
Day 02 – Fast roping from an Helicopter

During the second day the students will begin to fast rope from a MI8 rotarywing aircraft.

For confidence reasons we will once again start with low hights and will gradually increase as the class progresses.

Attention ! Class will be transported to the Helipad in Slovakia, where the students will be familiarized with the MI8, and will receive final briefing before the live training begins.
Module 03 – Landing Zones The students will learn how to choose & setup a proper LZ. In addition we will teach our students the following:

Pilot briefing & planning LZ setup (hasty + planned) Cordination of helicopters to the selected LZ Participate in several scenarios that require the setup of LZs
Module 04 – Deployment In this module the students will learn how to deploy or approach big or smaller helicopters. This module will focus on :

Types of deployment formations (linear, 360, etc) Deployment and work around the helicopter Communication / signaling to the air crew Directions of approch Deployment from EC125 & MI8 hecliopters
Module 5 – Scenarios In this module the students will have to complete different scenarios which involves the utilization of previously learned techniques and methods. This scenarios will be done in full equipment and within tactical context.
The progress as well as chronological order of the modules is subject to change and is based on the class progresssion, overall safety level & educational development.
