The 3rd Street Beat Mission Statement
The Third Street Beat is a newsletter written by and created for people with addiction. Our mission is to validate that experience so people know that they are not alone, and to emphasize the many unique roads that we take to recovery. This is an opportunity to share our experiences to creatively support each other. We are non-political, non-denominational, multi-racial, and gender neutral. Our mission is one of recovery and harm reduction, and all experiences are welcome. All the viewpoints herein are personal in nature and related specifically to our contributors’ recovery.

The rules of the game are simple: each of the nine blocks has to contain all the numbers 1-9 within its squares. Each number can only appear once in a row, column or box.

The End.
- Juan P. CordovaSo I start off as a seed To then rise from the ground
As a beautiful Red Rose.
As I grow, my thorns grow bigger and thicker to protect me from the bad people that have tried to destroy me...but I am a Rose that won’t bend and fold. I will continue to stand strong.
Yaritza ValleThe Climb
No one expects to be in this situation. No one wants to feel helpless, homeless, or unappreciated however, it has happened. Although these feelings are present, I still have hope. I am thankful for being allowed another day to live, to thrive, to move forward, rather than being complacent in this situation. The only way to move forward is to not forget your past.
By W. H.A Motivational Quote
You can hate and envy all you want, by all means, eat your heart out.
You’re entitled to it. But if you’re gonna hold onto that hate and envy, it would be like drinking poison, and expecting the other person to die and that’s not going to happen. So let go or be dragged.
By: Emiliano DortaMy Emotions
My emotions, wow, my emotions are all over the place And at the same token my emotions are internally deep within me
Just like the ocean has its profound dark space
Ah, so refreshing
My emotions mixes a special potion that fills my heart with peace love and devotion
My emotions go up and down
Just like the oceans wave, that rapidly rises And quickly comes crashing onto the shore’s ground
And as crazy as it may sound, my emotions when are left unnurtured, create a bitter poison, that leads me in the path of destruction
Yet, with gratification, and motivation, I’m able to overcome And gratefully say thank you Lord, for blessing me with my emotions
By: Emiliano DortaYour body is your temple! I would like to imply: Health First! Do unto others as you want for yourself! It’s really difficult to embrace this concept, especially when you were badly influenced when you began to become angry with others for the hate and pain you beared growing up. It begins to shape you and changes your outlook on life. However, forgiveness is the only bridge that can nourish you to become a part of your life. So I say, make amends with yourself and others. -
