Ceramic tiles offer the optimum area for resistance against abrasion and impact
Impact Panels In-depth research into the optimal design of their panels, coupled with extensive feedback from its customers, has led Multotec to incorporate modifications that enhance their impact resistance. According to Stephen Jackson, marketing manager of Multotec Wear Linings, the impact-resistant ceramic shape of the block or tile itself is just as important as the high alumina ceramic formulation used. The tiles are not only shaped to provide the optimum working area for resistance against abrasion and impact, but they are also engineered to obtain a mechanical attachment to the poly-
urethane and to prevent shearing of the polyurethane bed. “The advantages to our customers in the hard rock mining sector are apparent in the increased lifespan of the ceramic impact panels. We can cite many examples where our panels have achieved a lifespan of five years compared with the six months generally achieved by steel liners in the same application. The economics are apparent – Multotec Ceramic Impact Panels achieve at least ten times the lifespan,” he concludes. Zip Chain BMG’s range of mechanical power cylinders includes eco-friendly Tsubaki Zip Chain actuators, which are linear actuators that utilise the world’s first zip chain.
When they withdraw and uncouple, they coil back compactly into plastic storage cases. This design offers significant space savings compared with conventional linear actuator mechanisms.
“These compact actuators, which have been designed for high-speed, highfrequency operation, use about a 30th of the energy of equivalent hydraulic actuators,” says Carlo Beukes, BMG’s power transmission product manager. “Tsubaki actuators, with a multi-point stopping capability and a multi-level position setting for easy position control, ensure increased productivity and reduced energy usage in diverse industries, including industrial and manufacturing applications.
This means this system can be installed in the most cramped spaces in applications including transfer and lifting equipment. Another advantage is the option of various installation options - these units can be positioned vertically, horizontal or hanging.
Zip Chain actuators are used in any application requiring linear actuation, including production lines for automobiles, semi-conductors and LCDs.

This (ZCA) encompasses two lengths of chain that lock together like a zipper, to form a single rigid column which is capable of pushing and pulling.
