The State of Technology in Education Report 2018/19 is now the third annual report of its kind. It’s packed full of first-hand, candid insights on the UK education system.

As more MATs make the shift from individual to centralised procurement, we’re keen to hear which tech trends are emerging in academy schools. Our report comes straight from the mouths of over 1,800 educators and school leaders across the UK, a third of which are from staff in academy schools.

Here’s a quick preview of the trends that have emerged in MAT schools:

Lack of clear vision in MATs Our report showed that only 42% of staff in academy schools believe they have a clear vision for the year ahead.

Fewer IT issues in MAT schools Our survey showed a huge 86% of teachers are held back by failing technologies, while 20% fewer respondents from academy schools have the same issue.

“Since being part of an academy chain, leadership can no longer make strategic decisions and our academy masters are incapable of making timely decisions.”

This year, schools identified the key priorities for the coming year as:

Attainment 63.8%, up 16% since 2017
