INSTALLATION CAPSTAN C2000
INSTALLATION OF CAPSTAN ON FOUNDATION When installing the unit, it must be ensured that the foundation is calculated for the load to which it is exposed. When the capstan is to be mounted firmly in the foundation, all screw holes must be in use. Make sure that it is stuck in gear.
CAPSTAN C2000
HYDRAULIC ASSEMBLY CONTROL VALVE A control valve with a spring load (not included) MUST be used so that the valve moves to the “neutral” position when releasing the control lever/pedal. The capstan will then stop. This can be delivered adapted to each individual vessel. LOAD CARRIER VALVE A load carrier valve MUST be fitted so that the capstan handles the load in a controlled manner. Pipes should be used between engine and valve. EMERGENCY STOP An emergency stop (not included) MUST be installed in the work area. This can be delivered adapted to each individual vessel. COUPLINGS Use fittings and hoses that are designed for the specified amount of oil and pressure.
CAPSTAN C2000
START-UP / TEST DRIVING
• • • •
The emergency stop system must be tested. Control valve / pedals are tested. During test driving, hoses and couplings must be checked for leaks and damage. Oil pressure on control valve and load holding valve is set according to specified values.

OPERATION OF LORENTZEN HYDRAULICS CAPSTAN
The capstan is a winch that will handle heavy loads. It is therefore very important that all movements are performed well considered and safe, so that accidents are avoided.
TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION OF THE CAPSTAN, WE WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE THE FOLLOWING:
• • •
Before use, the user MUST find out where and how the emergency stop works. Before use, the user MUST be informed about / trained in handling pinch points in the work area. The user MUST be familiar with maneuvering / driving / using the product.
CAPSTAN C2000
MAINTENANCE ENGINE Make sure that the oil in the hydraulic system is clean. This will extend the service life. HOSES / PIPES AND COUPLINGS It is recommended that hoses and couplings be checked once a month for damage / corrosion and leaks. Check that links are secure. Damaged hoses and connections MUST be replaced before further use. CAPSTAN Make sure that both the capstan and the lid at the top are tight.
