Young Arts Leaders Creative Application 2015 About the Young Arts Leaders Programme
Creative / Enterprising / Leadership The Young Arts Leaders programme is delivered by Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS). It establishes a new pathway for Scotland’s young theatre-makers to realise and harness their potential as arts leaders and producers within their own communities. With support from the Scottish Government’s ‘Cashback for Creativity’ fund we are pleased to announce the launch the Young Arts Leaders programme for up to 8 young people aged 16-25 to take part. Throughout the 12 month programme the Young Arts Leaders will develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills to create and produce their own innovative theatre-based projects. Each participant will: be individually mentored by leading Scottish artists and theatre professionals attend three intensive Leadership Skills weekends receive a resource budget of up to £500 to invest in their regional project gain a Gold Arts Award (SCQF Level 6/7, 35 UCAS points) with units in ‘personal arts development’ and ‘arts projects leadership’ The programme will identify young people and locations which demonstrate particular need. In this way it will highlight the potential youth theatre has in supporting young people to overcome barriers to participation and progression. The Young Arts Leaders will become independent, active and confident individuals with the skills and abilities to set their own goals and realise their potential. By engaging with their community and sharing their work, the Young Arts Leaders will become agents for change, inspiring ideas, aspiration and advocacy across Scotland’s youth theatre network.
