GETTING PUBLISHED
YOUR STATE, YOUR SAY
Perth is ablaze with young writers, creatives and innovators all searching for an opportunity to break into the publishing industry. In this unique forum, four of Perth’s own are here to speak about their careers, the world of publishing and answer your questions about breaking into the writing and publishing industry. Ranging from journalism, to creative writing, editorial and features or the world of novel writing. Come along to hear their stories of accomplishment and success in our State, WA.
Government represents the people but unfortunately young people are often overlooked in government planning because they’re too young to vote, and also because it’s hard for governments to speak to them directly. This forum will bring government departments together with young people to answer questions and help them guide their work, as well as giving young people the chance to have their say about the issues most important to them.
WHEN: Monday 13 April, 6.00 – 8:30pm with break WHERE: Tunnel Theatrette @ Western Australian Museum
PAVE YOUR WAY The Millennials are a generation marked by entrepreneurialism and innovation. We are revolutionaries simply for being the first generation in history born into the digital age. We look at life and work through a brand new lens, and live to embrace those uncharted territories made available to us by 21st century advancements. In this forum we discover that career progression holds a brand new definition for youths of today, and that success can be achieved on your own terms, literally. Our five speakers will share their successes, trials, tribulations and personal commentary on what it really takes to pave your own way.
WHEN: Friday 17 April, 3.00pm – 6.00pm with break WHERE: Exhibition Hall @ Gordon Stephenson House, L2, 140 William St, Perth
IDENTITY POLITICS Understanding gender and sexuality for young people is a significant component in shaping their identity. This forum aims to increase young people’s awareness on the diversity of gender identities and sexual orientation. Advocates, educators and members of the LGBTQIA community will discuss the impact of both gender and sexuality on identity covering areas such as fashion, transitioning, coming out, mental illness, feminism, acceptance and family.
