Gisborne & Hawke’s Bay Market update

For our growers, making the most of the current harvest where possible is the absolute priority.

Like everyone else, Property Brokers has been supporting the region. Our team all come from farming and growing backgrounds, one way or another, whether they grew up on a farm, worked in rural banking, or farmed themselves – simply, it is in our DNA.

So, if there are people who wish to talk about real estate, we are happy to have a chat.

The reality is that the cyclone and its impact has created uncertainty in terms of what the market will do in the future and what it may mean for people.

Our region faces the daunting task of a mammoth clean-up, rebuilding homes and lives, in the wake of the cyclone. The scale of the damage is hard to comprehend, and immediate thoughts have turned to animal welfare and roading access desperately needed to offload stock as winter approaches for our farmers.

The situation is at the forefront of the entire team’s minds, and we extend our deepest sympathy to those affected by the cyclone, both town and country.

We continue to field questions on what the cyclone implications will be for our local rural and lifestyle property market. The bottom line is “it depends”.

Many decisions are still subject to central and local government responses and final insurance outcomes. We understand that, and our whole team is here to help in any way we can.

For farmers, growers and families across impacted parts of Te Ika-a-Māui, the North Island, we know it is an extremely difficult time.

As an immediate response, Farmlands has set up their ‘Cyclone Gabrielle Response Fund’ so anyone can contribute to the recovery of these communities.

100% of your gift will be used to help support the livelihoods of the people hardest hit by the disaster, and Farmlands will match those contributions to a total of $50,000.
