CHRISTMAS BY PROPUEBLO

Page 1

Our Christmas collection, made with renewable materials brings nature to your holiday. The Tagua nut used by the artisans to make the pieces for this collection is harvested from the Phytelephas aequatorialis palm which grows in the wild and lush lowlands of Ecuador. These nuts are also known as vegetables ivory and are a renewable resource and a sustainable alternative to animal ivory. The dark brown skin of the tagua is lightly sanded and carefully polishing results in a lovely creamy white seed. These finely handcrafted carvings require highly skilled artisans with years of experience in bringing life each object. Care was taken to use recycled materials for the packaging and display of the product. For many years this nut has been used primarily to make buttons for designer products. Actually the production of handicrafts and accessories is being encouraged to create income alternatives to reduce poverty and preserve the environment. The abaca fiber used in the nativities is naturally glossy and gives a bright touch to your decoration. We hope you enjoy this finely crafted and joyful accesory.
